I'm a drummer from Dundalk, I've been playing drums since I was 14. My style is mostly rock based, but i take influences from thrash metal right through to pop.
About me: Hi, my name is Mark, I'm from a town called Dundalk Co. Louth Ireland. I've been playing drums since I was 14. Been giging in different bands and projects since I was 15. I received a grade 8 in drums when I was 17 from the Trinity College of Music in London. With the grades, I learned how to read and play various styles of music including: rock, jazz, blues, bossa nova etc. Dynamics were a major crucial part of my learning also.I studied Applied Music for four years in the Dundalk Institute of Technology, specializing in music technology. In this course I learned about music theory, composition and electro - acoustic composition. The most part of the course for me was the music technology and studio work. We were thought how to use Pro Tools recording software and other sound editing and manipulating software like C Sound, Sound Forge and MIDI.
During my time as a drummer I have played in several bands with different styles of music including: funk, pop, metal, hard rock, blues and classic rock. For a time I was looked at with what you could only describe as a "confused look" from my drumming peers. This was due to the fact that I play traditional grip and I was playing with a metal band at the time.
I have recorded several albums with the bands I have been envolved with. As I was the only drummer in my class in college, I recorded countless recordings for projects with my classmates.
I also played with a cover band to keep me occupied on the weekends. I also played session for a couple of other bands when they needed me. We toured around the North East of Ireland including Louth, Down, Meath, Cavan and Monaghan.
At the minute I am playing drums for both the hard rock band Black Swan and the alternative rock band Frantic Jack. I will also be very soon uploading videos of myself playing along to songs on youtube and myspace video. Check out the rest of my page and pics and leave a comment.
We have put a new song up for you, it’s only a rough demo which hasn’t really been mixed well and hasn’t been produced but it will give you a taster of what may come next in our next recording sessions which we are trying to set before Christmas.
