Greg's Interests
|
| General | News in all its many forms. Music. Long walks. Irreverence. Questionable jokes. Pop culture. Random '80s trivia. My cat. Biking. Hiking. The country. Quiet mountains. Bustling cities. | | Music | In my hot rotation now: Spoon, The Apples in Stereo, R.E.M., Rilo Kiley, The Beatles, The Wallflowers (yeah, I know), The Killers and Travis. Embarrassing song stuck in my head as I type this: "Dangerous" by Roxette. | | Movies | I finally saw "Juno," and it's one of the best movies I've watched in years. The dialogue's snappy, the characters are believable and the music is hip and dorky. See it if you haven't! | | Television | I've logged enough hours with CNN's "Ballot Bowl" that I've dreamed about Wolf Blitzer. It's just as creepy as you'd think. Otherwise, the DVR's sporting "South Park," "Family Guy" and random History Channel docs. And "Paranormal State" from A&E, although that's more to dissect the cultishness of the group of students it features than to hear a good ghost story. | | Books | Right now, I'm reading "Reality Show," Howard Kurtz's in-depth look at the changing of the network evening news guard from Tom Brokaw, Peter Jennings and Dan Rather to Brian Williams, Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric. Anyone who knows me knows how big a hit this book is with me. | | Heroes | |

About me:
I am ...
-- Just a boy with a cat trying to find a hot meal in this crazy world.
-- A guy who lived in or near Colonial Williamsburg for four years, three blocks from the National Zoo for four years, in Old Town Alexandria for two years and who currently lives three blocks from the Capitol. I'm in more vacation pictures than Goofy.
-- A little goofy myself.
-- The owner of more Tears for Fears albums than should be allowed by law.
-- A burgeoning world traveler. Slowly but surely.
-- On the lookout for hip, comfy size 14 shoes. They don't appear often.
-- Happy to have lots of good friends in my life.
-- Still mourning the passing of "The West Wing." C'mon, TV, step up.
-- A firm believer that that which does not kill me makes me stronger. Unless it's just killing me slowly.
-- Not a fan of coffee. But starting to really enjoy green tea.
-- Maybe just a little hungry. Almost always.
-- A dork.
-- Totally at peace with that.
-- Able to retain random bits of pop culture at a dizzying clip.
-- Unable to put them to any purposeful use.
-- Thoroughly uncoordinated.
-- Ready to take on whatever the future has in store. Bring it, future.
