I'm a Mexican queer immigrant from D.F. Came to Chicago when I was 10, been here since then. My current job title is Director of Youth Training and Community Advocacy at Radio Arte - the only Latino owned, youth led, bilingual radio station in the country... oh the lines we learn.
I also produce and manage Homofrecuencia, still proudly the only radio show for LGBT youth in Spanish. Every monday night (7-9 p.m.) you can listen the Radio Arte youth (and sometimes me) talk about politics, immigration, HIV, and often my personal love life, which for some reason keeps coming up (on WRTE 90.5 FM Chicago and online at www.wrte.org/homofrecuencia)... OH and I HOST SIN PAPELES!!! A SHOW FOR PERSONAS SIN PAPELES... LOS DOMINGOS @ 11 AM.
Starting in March I will also be supporting Primera Voz and First Voice, two public affairs shows that air on Radio Arte Monday through Thursday 6-7 pm.
I have a tendency to tell stories as if I was writting an article, with background and conflicting versions of things, which is why I think this "About me" part is so long and technical. It seems like it needs something like my favorite color (red and purple), or my favorite cartoon when I was a kid (thundercats and smurffs), or perhaps simply my favorite sound (the crack ice cubes make when they splash into a glass of water).

A mural making class that combines traditional painting and contemporary techniques to create a dynamic and highly creative mural for the walls of Radio Arte. Teens will learn about the history of Latino radio, and work as a team to create a mural that will speak to the youth, the community and their culture.
