Brenden Morrow started his career with the Portland Winter Hawks of the WHL. He played four seasons with them, and was drafted 25th overall by the Stars in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. In 1998, he helped lead his team to the Memorial Cup Championship. He began his career in the NHL immediately after his final junior season.
Morrow has been a consistent producer for Dallas, garnering between 33 and 49 points every season he has played with them until his breakout year in 2005-06, where he notched 65 points. The new NHL has allowed small, fast, forwards such a Morrow to emerge as solid point-getters. He also broke his career record of penalty minutes with 183. Morrow has been consistent with his +/- rating, never earning an overall minus rating at the end of any regular season he has played in the NHL.
On September 29, 2006, Morrow was named the new team captain for the Dallas Stars. Having recently signed a new 6 year contract, Head Coach Dave Tippett said the Stars' management decided to "expand Brenden Morrow's role in our leadership group and we feel that the time is right to do this." Morrow is the fifth player to wear the "C" since the Stars relocated to Dallas in 1993.
On November 10, 2006 Morrow's name appeared on the All-Star Game ballot for the first time in his career.
On December 26, 2006, Morrow severed two tendons in his right wrist when he was stepped on with a skate in the game against the Chicago Blackhawks. Surgery was successful and he was discharged from a Chicago hospital the next morning. He was activated from the injured reserve on Friday March 16th and returned to the Stars on Sunday March 18th when Dallas played against the Phoenix Coyotes.

I want to personally Thank the Dallas Stars Organization for this. Treatment And Counseling To Continue; For Sean Avery Understanding Reached That Return Is Not Possible For Sean Avery to bring the morale to a downword sprial any longer.
(Dallas, TX December 14, 2008) – The Dallas Stars today announced that Sean Avery will not return to the NHL team. Representatives for both Avery and the Stars said they would continue to work together in support of Avery during “this critical time” for the player. All parties said there is a clear understanding that a return to the Stars is not in the best interest of either the hockey club or Avery.
Sean Avery “Sean needs to focus on his own well-being while the Stars hockey team must focus on playing hockey and competing for a playoff spot,” said Stars Co-General Manager Brett Hull. “Everyone understands that Sean will not return to the Dallas Stars. We all need to move forward.”
Stars management also said the team would not seek to challenge Avery’s contract under the conduct clause included in the Standard Player’s Contract. The agreement’s Paragraph 2 (e) directs all NHL players “to refrain from conduct detrimental to the best interest of the Club, the League or professional hockey generally.” Avery was suspended by the NHL last week for comments he made prior to a game with Calgary.
“The message here is: no distractions. Sean can focus on resolving his personal issues,” said Hull, “and the Stars will have closure on this episode. The team needs to put its energies into winning.”
The Stars said the team will continue to honor Avery’s contract while exploring all options for his hockey future consistent with the terms of his counseling.
“We do care about Sean and want what is best for him,” said Hull. “We’ve agreed to do what we can to help find him a place to play hockey once he addresses his personal issues.”
This is the best news I have heard coming out from the Dallas Stars organizati
