Books, Children, Chocolate, Vintage albums, Scary Movies, Gourmet Food, Real Life. Oh, love and marriage and all that . . . blah, blah, blah. Just kidding.
I search for new topics everyday.
Current curiosity . . . why aren't all crimes considered to be capital crimes treated the same. For instance, it is a capital crime, punishable by death, to kill a child under the age of 6. But, a jury can decide if capital punishment is on the table or not. So, if the jury doesn't like you, well, you are screwed. Don't get me wrong, I support capital punishment vehemently. I also believe that the punishment should fit the crime. I believe that a capital crime warrants capital punishment. End of story. If a child is murdered, not accidentally killed, that person should die by lethal injection in the state of Texas. Period.
Music
Have an eclectic taste in music, but don't like rap, thrash metal, or anything that can be considered noise. I used to sing for a female barbershop group, Sweet Adelines. Haven't found a local group yet, but will soon. Actually, I'm not going to. Now, it is just a memory.
Movies
We Love Scary Movies. The scarier the better. What do you expect from a couple that got married on Halloween? We saw the sequal to House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects, and it was definitely worth the wait. Challenge anyone to find a movie for us that is scarier in their simplicity than The Grudge or The Ring. The Ring 2 didn't cut it. And let me clear on something,
scary movies don't necessarily mean gory movies, although the latest Rob Zombie flick, Halloween was great, but gory.
We appreciate a little psychological terror. Scare us, don't gross us out. BTW, Don't see the movie Three. Completely stupid. Don't waste your time. Recently saw the film, Silent Hill. Don't play the game, but the movie, while not the best, still intrigued me. Death or alternate reality. Email me with your opinion.
Television
Love House, Gray's Anatomy, Heroes, Nip/Tuck, Bones, Numbers, Dirt, Journeyman. Give me a good drama and I am a happy girl. Don't like sitcoms. I usually don't find them funny and half an hour is too short to grasp my attention.
Books
I love Books. I read almost anything fiction, especially paranormal stuff. Favorite authors include: Robert Heinlein, Laurell K Hamilton, Katie MacAlister, Nora Roberts, Piers Anthony, Dean Koontz, Mary Janice Davidson, Emma Holly, oh well, see below. My biggest impatience is that the authors don't put out books as fast as I can read them. I am constantly in search of another good author, so if you know of any let me know. I read a lot of chick lit and prefer my main characters to be over the age of consent. I will no longer read ridiculous stories of 18 year old girls finding their soul mates in 35+ year old men. Give me a break. I also refuse to read another book where a woman is raped and then falls in love with her rapist. Please, can we say therapy needed? Make the characters flawed and feisty and interesting. Also, I know I am from Texas, but I want to read about places that I am not. It is called escapist literature, remember?
Heroes
I believe that to become a whole person, you must absorb every person, thing you read, thing you hear, thing you see, and experience you encounter. I have been blessed to have been exposed to some outstanding examples of people, places, and things so far. Blessed Be. God Bless. Namaste.

I am not a wiccan, it was the closest approximation I could get. The closest I can say I am is a monotheistic neo-druid. Well, not really. I guess I am really closer to Jewish. But, I had a problem going Kosher. Plus, I have an issue with being a hypocrit, if that is the right word. I can't see myself observing religeous holidays that observe occasions of the persecution of the jewish people, when my ancesters were so not the ones there getting persecuted against. Hello, I am Scottish and Irish and American Mutt. Anyway, I only do God, but either one is pretty close. See the wikipedia for more info of history and such on either one.
Like a meticulous collector, you've fed your brain a unique set of facts and figures over the years. Words, numbers, you've got it all. That's what makes you a Facts Curator.
Whether or not you intend to absorb every piece of information that comes your way, your mind has certain steel-trap qualities to it. You are a knowledge sponge. You have almost enough words in your head to fill a dictionary, and you're equally adept when it comes to manipulating numbers. You can also detect important patterns in number sequences, and probably remember the mnemonic devices you were taught in grade school.
.. --> br2 -->
You may feel comfortable in classroom settings where absorbing details is critical. You're also able to learn from example and piece together all the little facts in life to get to the big picture. That's why you never stop accumulating information as you walk through life.
Your strengths lie in both the verbal and math realms — placing you in the same arena as someone like Bill Gates. Gates has the ability to not only store and retrieve an especially large amount of specialized data, but to translate and present that information to the population at large. His entire empire is based on this unique talent. And to think — your brain works in this same way! When it comes right down to it, you and other Facts Curators can ride a wave of information to live a truly enriched life.
And for those smart alecs out there . . .I don't fly. I don't cast spells over my cauldren. I don't participate in covens or run naked through the woods. (well, not lately, anyway) I do follow the standard AND the harvest calendars. (My new year's eve is on Halloween!) I don't believe in multiple gods. Just the one god like most of the planet. I refer to him as Him, too. I refer to him as "Him" only because I am trained in the bible belt. I am comfortable with a male diety. Many neo-druid bretheren may balk at this and insist on referring to "The Goddess", but God doesn't have a sex to me, so I call him "Him" as part of the comfort of my upbringing.
Please don't try to save me or convert me to Christianity. Hell and Satan are Christian creations and don't have anything to do with me. There is evil in the world, but it exists in our hearts and is just a natural byproduct of free will. I read the bible, the old testament that is. Anything written after that is historically inaccurate, in my opinion. I pray . . . to GOD. Even my own grandmother was worried about my eternal soul. Well, my soul will convert back to the energy that composes it and will transfer to the next body that needs it.
And as far as people who feel challenged personally by my religeous beliefs, or people that just want to have an interesting religeous conversation . . . DON'T EVEN GO THERE. Any type of discussion on this subject is really some kind of discussion on the merits of a particular religeon and is, in fact, a sales pitch. I don't want to hear it. I don't impose mine, except on this page, and I really don't care about the positive benefits of yours. I am sure it is nice, but come on and give me a break. The key element to my belief system is that it is solitary, meaning ALONE. And I hate to break it to some of you Christians out there, but no one has a unique version of Christianity. A duck is a duck is a duck. I have heard it all before from the person that came before you. Just be a good person, live right, and work on your own personal relationship with God, not mine.
To those worried about our children. . . We don't push our beliefs on our children. We are trying to expose our children to many different paths so that they may choose their own when they are mature enough to do so. We talk about many belief systems and emphasize their similarities, along with their differences.
As to the energy comment above . . .Yes, I believe in past lives. I don't believe I was anyone famous and I do not believe just to be trendy. It is just the only logical viewpoint that I can come up with. I do believe in ghosts and paranormal phenomenon. I believe in Nessie, too. I do not necessarily believe in the aliens from the movies, but I am not so egocentric enough to believe that God created just one little planet to play with when we have documentation of other solar systems and star systems, knowledge complements of the wonderful world of science. Other planets with our same composition and atmostphere are bound to exist. In fact, we just read about a project to make Mars inhabitable within our future. I believe creationism and evolution can coexist in the same belief system. Only God knows how long his days were.
People who have similar interests: books, food, children, real life, etc. Everyone needs someone to talk to when things are good and bad. I am looking for interesting people to add to my everyday heroes. SEE BELOW and to the left AT HEROES. This is official notification that anything published on my blog is copyright protected.

“A Case of
You”
"There are few songs that
remain constants for me. This song is for my Mom who's birthday is this
week. A Case of You along with so many Joni songs have been the bridge
between us and helped in growing our friendship throughout my adult
life. Blue, the album this is off of was a seminal piece of work in my
Mom's life, and luckily it became the same for me. There really are no
words to say how much this song means to me, as a writer, a singer and
a hopeless romantic. I find it's meanings to be endless and I hope in
this little moment, in that tiny room with that old microphone I was
able to capture just that.
