“Take a deep breath, Tell me how it feels.”

Add the name of 21-year-old Orlando-based pop/hip-hop performer J White to the list of designer brands he so elegantly wears, with a musical style that is similarly polished and upscale,
aiming straight to the heart of a largely female audience that has made him a MySpace sensation.
Coming out of the area which produced 'NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys, J White picks up where the boy bands left off, taking it “180 degrees in a new direction for a new generation,” with a sophistication and style that is totally his own.
“I’m the opposite of street,” admits J. “I’ve been pretty blessed. My background is very much different than many other hip hop artists, which reflects in my music. There’s no profanity or mentions of violence on my album. Its clean-cut and proper, just like me!”
J White’s new single, “Picture This,” is a sultry, seductive combination of old-school soul with a modern post-rap edge he dubs “hip-pop”, produced by “L” of L & L Productions, whose production credits include Bubba Sparxx, Rich Boy, and Jim Jones.
“I like to change my ideas up,” says J, comparing his style to that of Kanye West and Will Smith. “Make it completely different each time. I want to create a brand new genre. That’s the creative aspect of music that interests me the most.”
The single will be released on J White’s own Down North Records label alongside noted industry attorney Allen Jacobi’s Miami-based Pyramid Records (who has previously been instrumental in projects with Eric Clapton, the Doobie Brothers, 2 Live Crew and Earth, Wind & Fire.) and Universal Music Group.
“Even though I’ve been contacted by several major record labels, I decided to do it on my own,” he explains. “I felt like I had to take matters into my own hands,” he says. “I networked 24/7 day and night.”
Although J White was a member of school choirs from the fourth grade throughout high school, he didn't really see music as a career opportunity until a couple of years ago. Several songs on J White’s MySpace (www.Myspace.com/MrJWhite) launched J White into the Top 5 Major label artists for Pop music in the Florida region and Top 50 nationally for over ten straight weeks.
Ozone magazine’s Erica Eason raved, “A sweet combination of hip-hop and R&B that would make any girl wants to be the object of J White’s affection flows seductively throughout this record.”
Dressed for success in European clothing and designer suits and ties; J White is an unabashed ladies man, with a female following that has the songs on his MySpace page nabbing thousands of plays per day.
Now, with new songs like “Picture This” and “My Introduction” ready to go, J will enter the recording studio to work on an eagerly anticipated debut album. “Picture This” has already begun to impact radio.
And while the ambitious performer is barely out of his teens, J White already has big plans for his Down North Records label, hoping to attract other talented performers he can then help break through both regionally and nationally. Although he admits music is the stepping stone, the foundation, his ultimate goal is an empire that encompasses modeling, fashion and even real estate.
“My goal is to create a brand so big that it opens doors for me in other industries,” he says.
Move over, Giorgio Armani and you, too, Hugo Boss. J White may be wearing your suits now, but he’s looking to take his place alongside you very soon.
“I want to be bigger than big,” he says. “I want to break every mold.”
J White is well on his way to doing just that...
