Spirituality and faith, worship and truth, family, people, music, guitars, reading, world travel... I have a much higher than normal level of curiousity, and that's one reason I am here.
I was trained in wilderness travel to leave no trace. Actually, I want to leave the world a better place than I found it and the signs of God will be my trace.
Music
Eclectic... I listen mostly to praise and worship music, but I love the British modern Celtic band Iona and Canadian singer/songwriter Bruce Cockburn. Stevie Ray Vaughn or Gary Moore or Bonnie Raitt are often on my shop CD player. There are also some musicians off the beaten path who have deeply moved me: David Ruis, Kevin Prosch, Don Potter, Martin Smith, Israel Houghton, Reuben Morgan.... Leonard Jones is a multi-instrumentalist with a fresh style that I admire. And I was blessed with former bandmates I appreciate (and greatly miss): Tom Bishop has a genuine gift for composing and playing, and Mat Edwards' passion to play his Strat is infectious. It's a long list going back to seeing Eric Clapton live from 20 feet away on Cream's first American tour. That isn't my most significant moment of conversion, musical or otherwise, but I haven't been the same since.
Movies
I watch a lot of movies in order to know what is going on in popular culture, and am not often impressed. But some stick with me. I loved the first Narnia: the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. I thought The Lord of the Rings trilogy was well done. Facing the Giants is a very encouraging movie, even if a bit cheesy in parts. Secondhand Lions is a favorite. And I confess that the original Ghostbusters is a one I will always watch, even if I have seen it a hundred times and know most of the lines. I'm all for busting the dark side of the supernatural world, and a sense of humor can help at times.
Television
Futbol! Soccer when I can get it. I'm in a part of the USA with limited cable, and no longer get Fox Soccer Channel. Bummer!
I'm also a big fan of 24, and every televised Duke University basketball game my schedule allows me to watch. I bleed Blue Devil blue once college basketball season starts.
Books
I read a lot of books, but they are all measured by the standard of the ONE book we can't do without. The Bible is the book I read consistently and it always speaks to the moment.
Heroes
My heroes are friends in Africa and Latin America and elsewhere who struggle in poverty, have little - if any - of the advantages we take for granted, and yet live lives of joy and hope and service for the good of others.

Milo plays lap style. We'll work on proper technique when his hands get bigger. Our guitars look alike, but the Gibson J series guitar on his Johnny Cash t-shirt is very cool, too.
Who I'd like to meet: I'd love to meet Mike Krzyzewski, men's basketball coach at Duke University. I spent four years in grad school at Duke, and back to back national championships were won during that time. I'd like to pick his brain on how to get the most of a team. (He does better some years than others.) More importantly, there is a list of giants of the Faith who I'd love to meet, and one day I will.
