I love sports, and I love music. I love trying to understand why people think the way they do, and then realizing that my thought process is far superior (gosh I'm a brat, but I amuse myself...) In the words of Julie Andrews I'd say these are a few of my favorite things...:) I also love food, more specifically white chocolate Reeses...they're the BEST! I love having fun and I love the ocean. I love Christmas...the smell, the lights, the warmth despite the cold outside. I also love summer time...getting tan on my back deck...good times there :)

Gosh, this is tough. I like lots of different things, but find that I am extremely picky as well. There are some songs that should never be played again and I suffer everytime I find myself having to be subjected to listening to them. However, I'd say the amount of amazing music in this world far outweighs the bad. Some of those who win my approval would be Jeremy Camp, Jewel, The Weepies, Shawn McDonald, Gin Blossoms, Rascal Flatts, Everyday Sunday, Mercy Me, Relient K, Bruce Hornsby, Kim Carnes (she is the best to sing karaoke to),Jimmy Eat World, Goo Goo Dolls...Okay, this list is far from all inclusive, but should give you an idea.
Movies
WOW! There are so many great movies out there. I am a sucker for romance, so "Legends of the Fall" and "Titanic" are classics in my book. But some other ones like "A Time to Kill" and "The Wizard of Oz" also get my vote. And I love ..A League of Their Own.. It is such a great movie...funny, sad, romantic, gut wrenching, full of great historical tidbits, just great all the way around. And, Dotty drops the ball on purpose....just incase you were wondering....;)
Television
I don't really watch much TV. Mostly because I'd rather spend my time doing other, more important things like play on myspace...;) But, I do have to confess that I love "The Fresh Prince." Corny, I know, but hilarious nonetheless. Not that I watch it very often, but I enjoy it if I ever get a chance to see it. Oh, and Spike TV's "Extreme Elimination Challenge" better known as the "Chinese Game Show" Totally hilarious....

"Stepping on the Cracks" by Mary Dowing Hahn is a great story about a couple of girls dealing with the realities of WWII. That is my favorite time in history because people came together to support our nation, not try to defeat it. I know it's a crazy concept...but some of you might want to give it a try. I also just finished reading "The Enemy Within" by Michael Savage. It is amazing and holds so much truth...

My Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa. There are so many amazing people that I could name, but don't have time to explain. I guess really anyone who has ever taken a stand for what is right, even though it may not have been the popular thing. Being strong and taking a stand for what you believe in isn't easy and sometimes, it even hurts. But in the long run, I have to believe it pays off.
And, Jesus. He should be who we all try to model our lives after, then this world would be a better place and everyone would vote Republican ;)

Well, my name is Maren. Hmmm...where to begin...Basically, I'm huge fan of life, of living it to the fullness and completeness that it can only be when we are living for something greater than ourselves. I love sunshine and summertime. I love to sing (there's nothing better than sister/Emily harmony) and I love to dance (I'm pretty awesome at it, especially the good food dance). I love to have fun and can have fun doing just about anything and everything. I love being able to laugh at myself (which I find myself doing entirely too often). I love spending time with people. I love to make candy. I love doing anything athletic and having water fights. I went repelling for the first time a few months ago and that was just about awesome. I'm hopelessly romantic,competetive and passionate, love a good adventure and hate sitting for prolonged periods (like more than 5 minutes). I like to think I'm tough, but end up being more of a girly girl than I would like to admit sometimes (especially when it comes to dealing with spiders). Okay, so I can't be perfect in every way....:) Someday I want to live in Hawaii, be a firefighter, singer, missionary to China, teacher, and work in politics or for the American Center for Law and Justice; visit French Polynesia, Thailand, work with orphans in Romania and own a home in Dillon....it's lucky I'm still young :)
Who I'd like to meet: I would like to meet anyone and everyone...I love meeting new people. But, since I have this opportunity to be specific, I would love to meet someone who is fun with a sense of adventure....someone who enjoys a little competition. Someone who will push and challenge me to be my best....or even better. Someone who isn't a flake, who is real and who loves life. Someone who understands the value of honesty and hard work, family and faith. Someone who lives the life and walks the talk. Someone who cares about others more than themselves. We're staying in hostels and with families. My mom is a member of this site called couch surfing.com. It's a social networking site for people that travel and are willing to host other members. It's kind of interesting. I will definitely have to try the white chocolate. I know what you mean about appreciating living here in the States though. I play rugby with a scottish guy and just from the different things he's told me i'm really glad that i live in the U.S. But i'm still super-excited to go!
