A courageous and startling film, Peter Davis's landmark documentary Hearts and Minds unflinchingly confronts the United States' involvement in Vietnam. Using a wealth of sources - from interviews to newsreels to documentary footage of the conflict at home and abroad - Davis constructs a powerfully affecting portrait of the disastrous effects of war. Explosive, persuasive, and shocking, Hearts and Minds is an overwhelming emotional experience and the controversial winner of the 1974 Academy Award™ for Best Documentary.

About me:
As it enters its second century, film remains one of the most vibrant, entertaining, and informative of modern art forms.

The Rochester Film Salon aims to foster and sustain a cine-literate audience who can appreciate and enjoy challenging and innovative cinema from around the world.

This monthly event will showcase a wonderful range of international movies; from Avant Garde, Experimenta and World Cinema Classics to hard-hitting political dramas and insightful documentaries, which promise to excite the imagination of the audience.

Not only do these films demonstrate the depth and variety of cinema, they also provide a springboard for discussions on a wide range of issues that will follow each screening.
