Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Into My Arms Ya get older, and ya remember important things/songs/artists.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Fifteen Feet of Pure White Snow The sound has been deleted! the video however remains wonderful.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Fifteen Feet of Pure White Snow
Talking Heads - Take Me To The River I dunno, oh! yes I know, see Flannery O'Connor's The River Blast it! okay, yes, read the whole collection! but for The River type "The River" in the search field (in the blue nav line, then it's page 23).
The Staple Singers - This May be the Last Time
Wonderful
Movies
Art-y, usually foreign. Classic American.
La Belle et la Bete
My Man Godfrey
For fun, and for the romance of it.
Classic: Hardy, Faulkner, Joyce, Mann, Hammett, Chandler, Cain, Woolrich...
Modern: Cormac McCarthy. What a writer! (only minor current mis-steps: No Country...stinks). The Road is much closer to 'real' McCarthy (waiting for the Film -- Nick Cave music!). Caution: McCarthy's earlier works are not for the weak/light-hearted/faint-hearted.
Classic SciFi, ever ongoing: Dick yet again -- Philip K. Dick Reader. I did break for Nightwatch by Sergei Lukyanenko (I'd watched and enjoyed the films Nightwatch and Daywatch), and look forward to reading Daywatch.
I will get back to Tim Power's sequel to Last Call -- very good!!
Currently, Hardy's Tess...
Heroes
Hmmm... anyone who fights the status quo. The most heroic word in all languages is revolution. Eugene V. Debs
The Scratch Vegetarian I am so lucky as to fairly often personally partake in their delicious makings!
I do NOT accept as Friends people I don't know. I occasionally add an artist, someone with an artistic bent, or someone representing an artistic position. Young female 'hotties', please stop 'inviting me', 'cuz you just get 'denied'!! Very best to you, but I will not add to your 'friend number'.
Librarians wield unfathomable power. (see LA:W below)
...years ago I recognized my kinship with all living beings, and I made up my mind that I was not one bit better than the meanest on earth. I said then, and I say now: That while there is a lower class, I am in it; and while there is a criminal element, I am of it; and while there is a soul in prison, I am not free. (my punctuation) Eugene V. Debs
Most everything in life is a choice: Non-action is non-choosing.
The Righteous Brothers - Just Once In My Life
This is really about me, but it kinda works for The Party as well ;> Okay, "The Party" won, now, how 'bout ME? haha!
Jackie DeShannon - What the World Needs Now
And then...
People become librarians because they know too much. Their knowledge extends beyond mere categories. They cannot be confined to disciplines. Librarians are all-knowing and all-seeing. They bring order to chaos. They bring wisdom and culture to the masses. They preserve every aspect of human knowledge. Librarians rule. And they will kick the crap out of anyone who says otherwise. Als das Kind Kind war Wings of Desire: The Library
"all the colors will bleed into one" U2 & The Boss - I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
No one in particular, just people who are interesting and interested.
Sometimes one misses opportunities, for whatever reasons. Jackie DeShannon - When You Walk In The Room Good golly, isn't she just the dang cutest thing on earth!
