my dad, daniel johnson was much more than a father. He taught me lifes lessons and how to live my life the right way. He wanted me to learn from his mistakes so I didnt have to make them. My world is incomplete without him.
Richard Dewayne " Richie" Jones was the best person and friend I ever knew. He was also so much more. I loved him with all my heart and always will. My heart broke when he died, and still remains that way. He lived life to the fullest, and appreciated everyday, because he knew that he may not be here tomorrow. He was an old spirit in a young body. He may have died young, but he lived more in 22 years than some ppl do in 80 years. He taught me so much and I will forever miss him.

My paternal grandmother was everything I aspire to be. She had determination, drive, passion and never quit fighting. She was born in the 1930's and lost the use of her legs b/c of polio. Drs said she would never walk again, but she did. they said she would never have children and she had three sons. She had the courage to leave my paternal grandfather(who i never met) in the 1950 and raise three sons as a single mother. she was married 2 an abusive alchoholic and refused 2 let her children grow up in that environment. She actively broke the cycle of abuse and my uncles and dad grew up to be great men who respected women. She raised them with no support group, no government assistance, just her determination 2 give her children a better life.
She went on later to be an amazing grandmother, one who made a permanent mark on my life even though she passed away when i was only 7 yrs old. The last few yrs of her life she valiantly fought ovarian cancer until the treatments she received literally killed her.
Whether fighting 2 regain use of her legs, to leave a violent situaton, refusing to give up when faced with a terminal cancer diagnosis, my grandmother faced it all with courage and conviction and with her catholic faith.
if i am able to be a fraction of the person she is, i will be very proud. and that is why she is my hero.

much thought to those small town friends from my youth. I was too busy with my
life, my family, my career and then I heard THE NEWS ... one of my
close friends (from years ago) had died. A year later
another and about two years after that still another. Although many years had past, these weren't
"old men" they were in their prime and suddenly gone.
I began writing "Again" shortly after the first friend died .... it
