About me: What do you call a red haired ape, that gives speeches, plays pool, muses about philosophy, pretends to write 3 books at once, and always wants to win but just by a little so as not to make anyone unhappy?
You call it a Patrick Woods.
Who I'd like to meet: People I've lost along the way and people on the road I haven't found yet.
Hey - Actually, I'm under Cingular, who, apparently, has recently been discovered spying on its customers' text messages. Oooh yeah. Go, go, Patriot Act, GO!
Planning to swing into NY soon. And by soon, I mean in January. Pool and beer a-hoooy?
How's life otherwise. My last day of work this term is Friday, and then I'm home-free in terms of classes for a month. Thesis-working time. I'll be here in Corvallis. Call anytime. It's an exciting world out here. Whoooa.
Hey...sorry I haven't been phone-savvy lately. My cell phone had a stroke and I can no longer use the 7, 9, or menu buttons. Can't respond to texts. Let's talk soon! I hope your family is doing well, and you have a greatastic turkey day!
I went as Pissed Off That No Matter How Many Times I Repeat the Same Instructions Over and Over, I Still Get E-mails That Ask Me Basic Questions About the Assignment College Educator.
It was a great costume. I even scowled to keep my emphasis.
To elaborate on the findings that Donnie Baseball is a jinx:
1978- Yanks win WS against the Dodgers 1979 - Mattingly drafted in the 19th round by Yankees --- they begin 18-year Championship drought. 1981- Yanks lose WS to the Dodgers 1995 - Up 2-0 over Seattle in first Wild Card Playoff Series in Baseball history, Yankees lose 3 straight and miss ALCS. 1996 - Mattingly unofficially retires, has no affiliation with Yankees. Yankees rally from an 0-2 deficit to beat Braves 4-2 in WS. 1997 - Mattingly retires, he returns for stadium ceremony to retire his #23, Yankees lose to Indians in ALCS. 1998 - Mattingly has no affiliation with Yankees, Yankees win 125 games, lose only 1 playoff game and win the WS 4-0 over San Diego. 1999 - Mattingly has no affiliation with Yankees, Yankees beat Atlanta 4-0 in the WS (and achieve a record streak of 12 consecutive WS wins). 2000 - Mattingly has no affiliation with Yankees, Yankees beat NY Mets 4-1 in the WS. 2001 - Mattingly becomes a Spring Training Hitting instructor, Yankees lose WS to Arizona 4-3. 2002 - Mattingly still a Spring Training Hitting instructor, Yanks lose to Angels in playoffs. 2003 - Mattingly still a Spring Training Hitting instructor, Yankees lose WS to the Florida Marlins at Yankee Stadium. 2004 - Mattingly becomes full-time Yankees hitting coach. Yankees lose to the "Cursed" Boston Red Sox in the ALCS 2005 – Mattingly continues as hitting coach, Yankees lose AL Division Series to Anaheim. 2006 – Mattingly continues as hitting coach, this is getting boring… 2007 – Mattingly continues as batting coach, Yankees lose. Fans blame A-Rod; Steinbrenner blames Torre.
