My goal in life is to be a well read, well rounded, well informed person; that guy at the cocktail party that can carry on an intelligent, informed (and hopefully witty) conversation with anybody on virtually any topic. Even though my school days are over I want to continue to expand my interests and explore new things throughout life. I like the arts (film, books, theater) and I also love sports (NFL and MLB in particular). I like to work out and try to stay in good shape.
Music
I tend to like singer/songwriters regardless of genre. My taste is very eclectic. Maybe this is just me getting older, but I like music that is organically created. I like to hear musicians playing in a studio and if it sounds a little sloppy and not very polished I like it even better. I don't like music that somebody created using Grarage Band in their living room. Did you see Prince at the Superbowl??? Just amazing.
Favorites: Springsteen, Hank Williams, Maria McKee/Lone Justice, Elvis Costello, The Clash, U2, G. Love, The White Stripes, Prince, Elton John, Kanye West, Dylan, Chris Issaak, Green Day, Brian Wilson, Brian Setzer, Billy Joel, Ben Harper.
Movies
This is a hard list for me to make. I love film. Some favorites: The Searchers, Mr. Smith Goes to Washingtong (I am a total mark for Capra), Sunset Boulevard, Casablanca, On the Waterfront, Pulp Fiction, Children of Men, Dr. Strangelove, Glengarry Glen Ross ("Put. That. Coffee. Down.") Batman Begins, Fargo, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Back to the Future, The Departed.....My favorite movie of the last 5 years is still the documentary Murderball.

Television
When did TV get so good? 30 Rock, Dexter, Friday Night Lights, 24, The Office, Veronica Mars (rest in pease, Small Blond One), Gilmore Girls, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly (the Whedon trifecta), Galactica, Curb Your Enthusiasm,True Blood, Arrested Development, Rescue Me.
Books
I like post modern literary novels a lot. Nick Hornby, John Updike, Kurt Vonnegut (so it goes), Micheal Lewis, Michael Chabon, David Mamet (I know, not a novelist), JD Salinger, Anne Tyler, Larry McMurtry, Jonathon Safron Foer, John Updike. I love crime fiction, so Elmore Leonard and Michael Connelly are must reads.
Heroes
Underdogs and overachievers. Example: Priest Holmes.

I am just a poor, backward Midwestern boy relocated to Los Angeles since December 2006. After having taught high school for 10 years (I believe the clinical term is "burnout") I moved to LA to pursue an actng career as I was under the impression there was a terrible actor shortage here. I will never trust Entertainment Tonight again. Ever. Under any circumstances. Jokes aside, I really feel like I am on the right path for the first time in a long time. The Adventure Begins...
Who I'd like to meet:
Cool people with a variety of interests: People who are creative yet unpretentious. People that are interesting and that I can learn new things from. People who are well rounded and will kick me in the ass to achieve in my own life. I want to meet people who bring out the best in me and, in turn, I help bring out the best in them.
