Chris and I took another road trip over the Easter holidays. This time to the Central Plateau Region and geothermal areas of Central New Zealand. So I decided to post our travel log in a blog. I hope you will check it out and let me know what you think.

Arnott Point - Tasman Sea - West Coast, South Island, NZ During the winter months up to 800 NZ fur seals inhabit this beach and islands. There were a few on the beach when we visited.
Franz Josef Glacier- South Island, NZ Never did see the top of this glacier due to the low lying clouds. What makes it unique is that it descends from the Southern Alps to less than 300 metres above sea level amidst the temperate rainforest.
To put size into perspective, there are three ice climbers in the middle of this photo. Can you see them?
Driving through light snow in Arthur's Pass on the Otira Gorge Road. The Otira Viaduct aka Deaths Corner, took 2 years to construct, cost 25 million dollars and was completed in 1999. This area is prone to to rockfall, snow avalanches and landslides.
This rock shelter and chute are part of the road's construction to divert the debris and water coming off the mountain.
Brolga (Native Companion) or aka Australian Crane from Australia. Surprisingly, this pair at the Auckland zoo here in New Zealand, are the only breeding pair in captivity in the Australasian region.
Have yourself a one-of-a-kind week. ~smiles to you~ Lisa
