    Nate the Great's Interests
GeneralAgain, copied from Facebook:

Politics, philosophy, religions, current events, history, literature, music, basically anything Tech DOESN'T have... But I still love it here. And I like to have fun. Not to mention drunken wall posts.
Hanging out randomly is fun. Like Waho every night with Fink. I also do plenty of random things. Nothing is better to me than an impromptu evening of slip and slide, swimming in the various ponds around Tech, crawling in the steamtunnels underneath campus, late night excursions, etc.
MusicNot going to be original.

Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Van Halen, Amorphis, Tom Petty, The Allman Brothers, Three Doors Down, ZZ Top, AC/DC, A Perfect Circle, The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, Dire Straits, The Scorpions, Collective Soul, Live, Billy Joel, The Beatles, Foo Fighters, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Metallica

To put it plainly, 80s, 90s, classic rock, and some new music. I also dabble in jazz, funk, metal, pop, punk, classical, and many, many other genres.
MoviesStill copied.

Shawshank Redemption, Fight Club, Supertroopers, Road to Perdition, The Godfather parts I and II (I didn't like III), Saving Private Ryan, A Bridge Too Far, Revenge of the Nerds, Fellowship of the Ring, Two Towers, Return of the King, The Patriot, Braveheart, American Beauty, Dr. Strangelove, Life of Brian, Billy Madison

I basically just like lots of movies.
TelevisionMore copying...

Family Guy, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Futurama
BooksAnd finally done.

Siddhartha, The Poisonwood Bible, Does the Center Hold?, Memoirs of a Geisha, Princes of Ireland, the Emperor series, the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy series, the Ender's series, A Brave New World, Macbeth, The Tao of Pooh, Grendel, The Great Gatsby, Power of One, A Separate Peace, Timeline, Fellowship of the Ring, Two Towers, Return of the King, The Hobbit, Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, Ender's Game

I like reading a lot. I just don't get to do it as much as I'd like. Effing school...
HeroesThat's a weird question...

Otto von Bismarck, Nixon, Gingrich, Jefferson, Machiavelli, my dad, and many others I admire.

About me:

Here's what I posted on my Facebook account:

My name translated:

Here are a couple of things I've posted in my Livejournal that are my own musings about me. Enjoy, if you decide to read.

Here is one dated April 11, 2006.

An interesting occassion happened to me today. I was sitting in my advanced microeconomics class when I realized that had I not gone to Key Largo on spring break last week wouldn't have sucked. I've had plenty of time when I could have brooded over that fact. Instead, it never even occurred to me that such is true. That made me consider how my mentality has changed. Once I would have considered the implications of it over and over again, leading me into anger and depression. Now it's not just a rationalization that what's done is done; it's simply me not even considering that I could have done things differently. I may have reached a point where I no longer consider what I could have done, but rather what I did do, how to avoid it in the future, and how it's changed me. It's a strange combination of homo economicus, taoism, and existentialism in that, while regarding how past experiences have changed me, I realize subconsciously that there's no use thinking about what I could have done, and indeed I take the lessons with me to the future.

Writing this post has segued my thoughts to another subject; the way I consider things. Ever have I been apt to follow my own path. Cliche as it may be, I just do my own thing. In my family life, I've been a black sheep in many ways, but importantly in how I've developed my relationships in my family. In friends, I never adhere to a specific social crowd, but instead I prefer to have a variety of friends in all walks of life. In school, I do what interests me. Expounding upon that, in high school I never did the all synergy, all honors, all whatever track. I graduated with 6 credits in social studies. That's 12 classes, almost all it had to offer. That sort of affected the development of my social circles, but more importantly it affected my thinking. Now I'm at Georgia Tech where there are 55 undergraduate econ majors. I'm going to pursue a certificate or minor in public policy, and there are about 30 public policy majors. Combine the two, and you get even fewer. Indeed, when I pledged Delta Sig, I was the first econ major in recent history, maybe even ever. And despite all the catcalls that econ is a slack major, I remain undaunted, driven by my own individual passion. In religion, I had a hard time adhering to one religion. After exploring many different religions, I settled on being a deist. More importantly, I broke away from organized religion. In organizations, I do what I like, not what everybody else does. I try different things. I was in Mu Alpha Theta and NHS in high school, but I didn't like either despite their popularity, so I stopped doing it, against pressure from many groups. As was the case with chorus. Instead I stuck with debate and Model UN because they interested me. Now in college I'm in a large variety of organizations. Sure, some of them contain a lot of the same people. Quite a few people in Connect With Tech are Greek, as is the case with ERT. However, I am also part of organizations that contain mostly non-Greeks, namely SFIC, Model UN, and perhaps the upcoming econ club.

This individualism has many implications. First is its roots. As the only male in my family, and indeed a black sheep of sorts, I was forced to develop on my own from a young age. Yes, I had many different influences, and trying to disavow those influences is simply ignorance. However, my passions became my own. As I moved through life, such foundations guided my decision making, and I became more and more individualistic. This outlook now has a very profound impact on me, evidenced through my choice of fraternity, one from many different walks of life, and many of whom never had any intention of going Greek. I'm glad I have chosen the path that I have, despite the inherent loneliness and solitude.

Here is one dated October 4, 2005.

I seem to have some problem in relationships. It's one or more of three possiblities. I'm either afraid of commitment, fickle, or picky. I'm not quite sure what it is, but it's definitely preventing me from settling down with someone. But do I really need to worry about that? I'm only 20; I have a lot of living left to do. Whatever, I'll just take life as it comes.

I really like my life right now. Sure, I'm not content. I don't think I'm ever content, actually. I always see room for improvement in my life. However, I'm happy with where I am and what I'm doing. I admire me as a person. Call me arrogant if you'd like, but most of my qualities are admirable. In addition, I'm more productive now than I think I've ever been. I do so much for myself and others that it's sometimes overwhelming. I remain busy and focused but still free. I found something that I'm truly passionate about and can make a career out of. I'm constantly judging whether or not I should expand my education in order to encompass something more, or even just to change what I'm doing. However, I stick to my path. It feels good.

That brings me to another musing. I used to think that people who kept themselves busy were missing out on life. At that time, apparently the only way to live was to do nothing. It was only two years ago that I felt that way. I'm glad that I've changed in the way that I have. I remain busy and constantly working on something, but I'm still happy. I enjoy what I do, and working hard brings me joy. I wish I had realized that work would bring such reward back then, but I guess that makes it that much better now. If I hadn't been what I was then, I might not be who I am now. Additionally, doing nothing in high school allowed me to self-educate myself, and what I've learned sticks with me and guides me in my decisions. I hope that I've made the right choices. However, I'm still afraid of complacency. One of my strengths has always been my constant self-criticism. I actually stopped for a period last fall, and once I analyzed where I had gone I didn't like myself. I knew that I needed to change. So change I did, and I've become a better person for that. I'm wary not to make the same mistake again, but that's a task easier said than done. I hope that I never become truly complacent. I hope that throughout my entire life I will keep constantly looking at my life through a magnifying glass and peering at all in my life, good and bad. Maybe that's what drives me. Visions of American Beauty and Fight Club still ring in my head whenever I consider where I might be one day. I hope to never become jaded and abject. My roots of punk-dom still come through in my life, further evidence that my philosophy on life is true; everything you do will have an impact on your future. Though there are times in my life that I look back upon and say, "Wow, I'm glad I'm not that kid anymore," I am thankful for what I was because I would not be the Nate that I am today, and I have hope for the Nate of the future.

I edited my profile with Thomas’ Myspace Editor V3.6!

Who I'd like to meet:
Everyone!

And apparently everyone wants to meet me, too, because I already have 4 random people on my friends' list.

A side note, please, for the love of god, be interesting.

MissFlores008: What kind of person do you want to meet/talk to?
Kraut785: Someone with a personality trait/ambition/passion/ideal that sets them apart.
MissFlores008: And not in a completely frightening way?
Kraut785: Especially in a frightening way.
Kraut785: Something to make life more interesting.

batchelor girlies don't tell the truth about what they think.
I am telling you this because it is the honest truth, look I should know, they say that it is all in the way you use it, not how big it is, well I got news for you all, that is pure lies.
I know from personal experience, I will tell you about a secret that barney has made me promise to never ever tell anyone, but since he has not called me in three weeks after standing me up, I am going to break the promise and tell you how he went from having a tiny wang and in 4 months he is now about nine inches and get this, it is still getting bigger. He has been secretly taking grow jells from this site, copy and paste the address into your browser to see them.GUDDAY.COM
I found out when I was at his house, three fridays ago, we were getting ready to go to the mall, so while he was in the shower, I went in his room, sneeked under his bed and found a box with jell bottles in it, there was like 9 full bottles and 4 empty ones, all ordered from GUDDAY.COM I was laughing at first but then when he came in the room and caught me looking at them, he freaked out and made me sware to not ever tell anyone about them, especially girls from school or work that he has been dating for the past while, now that I think of it, he has been rather busy with all the popular girls around here, when just last year he was the shyest when it came to girls.
I just never put two and two together until he explained it all to me, I did see his package and yes, it is huge, pronostar huge, the thickest and longest one I ever seen.
I know this sounds really shallow, but I am considering ordering 6 bottles from the website at GUDDAY.COM for you know who.. he does not have a myspace account, so he is not gonna see this. They guarentee that the jells will work on any man, or they give you your money back, living proof that they do work on any guy, seeing is believing.GUDDAY.COM
