About me: Michael is one of Strawdog's Associate Artistic Directors and an ensemble member since 1997. He was most recently seen at Strawdog as Eamon in 'Aristocrats, directed by Rick Snyder and 'Marathon '33' directed by Shade Murray, which was awarded a Jeff Citation for Best Ensemble. In addition to acting in many of the company's productions over the last 10 years, he also worked on the concept and script editing for 'Measure for Measure', 'Julius Caesar' and 'Merchant of Venice'. Original writing has included three short radio pieces for Strawdog Radio Theatre #7 on the Strawdog Mainstage ending the 19th season. Other stage credits around town include 'Hyde in Hollywood' with Shattered Globe Theatre, 'Time to Burn' and '12 Angry People' with Steppenwolf, 'A Clockwork Orange' and 'Titus Andronicus' with Defiant, 'Flannagan's Wake' with Noble Fool, 'Dream Boy' (the original production with fellow Strawdog John Ferrick) with About Face, 'The Lark' with Eclipse, 'The Sammy Davis Jr. Story' with the Black Ensemble Theatre, 'To the Greenfields Beyond' with Writer's Theatre and understudy for Northlight's production of Craig Wright's 'Grace', directed by Dexter Bullard. On camera work include commercials for Phillips, Armed Forces Network and Vehix.com and Central Baptist Hospital, appearing on the small screen playing John Dillinger in the BBC/Discovery Channel documentry 'The Real Untouchables', an episode of 'Walker: Texas Ranger' and on the big screen a short feature which was an IFP Chicago Production Fund Winner titled 'The King of the Tango' directed by Karen Freidberg. Michael trained with the National Shakespeare Conservatory, holds a B.S. in Acting from Illinois State University and was a 1995-96 Steppenwolf Acting Fellowship Recipient. He is a graduate of the Second City Conservatory.
Next up for Michael is understudying the roles of Lockhart and Nicky for the forthcoming Steppenwolf production of 'The Seafarer', directed by Randy Arney.
