Books
Oh, so so many... I love David Eddings, Robert Jordan, Terry Goodkind, Neil Gaiman, Gregory Maguire, Richard Bach, Ralph Helfer, Daniel Quinn, Orson Scott Card, Neale Donald Walsh, Dr. Suess, Shel Silverstein, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Nikki Giovanni, Saul WIlliams, Calvin and Hobbes comics, Nicholas Evans, Jane Green, Bill Bryson, Robert Fulghum, Stephen King (only the not-too-scary-and-gross ones), "If you want to write' by Ueland, "The Time Traveler's Wife" by Niffenegger, "The Education of Little Tree" by Carter, "Memoirs of a Geisha" by Golden, "The Wilderness Family" by Kruger, and now I'm working on "The Glass Castle" by Walls (very good so far). And believe me, there's much more where that came from... I'll spare you any more torture for now.
Heroes
First and foremost, my mom and dad. Couldn't have made it this far without them inspiring me. My little sister Chelsea, for actually continuing to put up with me, and continuing to amaze me with her awesomeness. My music teacher of twelve years, my English teacher, Jesus, Mother Theresa, Martin Luther King, Jr., Gandhi, the Dalai Lama, Neale Donald Walsch, Ralph Helfer, people that put others before themselves, people that make me good food, my friend Misty, coworkers (again, that put up with me), my pets for loving me unconditionally, the spirit of Santa Claus.

..How well do I truly know myself? I ask myself that question every day, and every day I come up with a different answer. How do I define myself? By my interests, my accomplishments, my past experiences, my plans for the future? All of my friends and family only seem to know certain aspects of me, all of my "me"s eventually comprising who I am. (Don't worry, I don't have multiple personalities. Well, not that I know of...) And that's only the beginning, because there's still stuff left over that makes me...well, me. There's so much to discover about myself.
Who knows what I'll do tomorrow, or how I'll react in any given situation, but I know what makes me happy and what doesn't make me happy. Perhaps I'll start with that. I love slowly waking up, relishing the in-between time from dreams to reality. I love remembering a dream in the middle of the day. I love the freedom of having nothing to do, and still having a million things I could do. I dislike litterers. I hate people who hate (how's that for irony?). I love people who I can talk easily with, sharing odd little idiosyncrasies rather than the facts of life. Our lives aren't timelines. I love long, brutal hugs. We aren't fragile beings; hug the hell out of someone! I love full handshakes where you go all the way up to the hollow of the thumb to shake like you mean it. Why do some people shake the prissy way, grabbing onto only the fingers? It's not called a finger-shake, damnit! I dislike people that don't use turn signals, and since we're on the subject of driving, right lane = slower,
left lane = faster. That's not too hard to figure out, right? I love when it rains and the tree bark looks black, making the leaves even more stunning. Nothing sets my mind at ease more than lying down next to a mountain stream and watching the treetops. I dislike people that think their way is the only right way. I love learning things that don't seem to matter, but nevertheless helps me understand the world. I love playing music with people (or watching something together) that evokes such raw emotion, I can't help but feel connected to everyone around me. I love loud, genuine laughter, and unabashed smiles. I love seeing love.
Those are some of the things about me that will never, ever change. Do you know me any better now?
