“…balanced airy west coast lyricism with hard-edged New York bite, held together by her strong sense of musical form…Impressively, Gamlen played from the inside and without artifice, creating tension simply from her choice and placement of notes… music of originality and poise.” Mike Hobart , The Financial Times
"Amy Gamlen in my opinion, is one of the most important saxophonists and musicians currently performing. Her sense of musical form, technical mastery, adventure, and most important in this music, communication of profound feeling has been evident every time I've heard her. Amy's high level of musicianship and musicality is appearent in not only her improvisations but in her choice of musical companions andaccompanists who, like Amy, are some of the finest and strongest musicians of the younger generation.” Steve Potts.
“…a neat but adventurous player with an urgent, occasionally even pleasingly strident tone and a striking compositional gift…..a genuine original.” Chris Parker, The Vortex East Festival.
" ...hugely talented… " Ian Carr, The Rough Guide to Jazz
