We are four young guys from Midwestern Indiana who want to create music with emotion. Two twenty-one-year-olds, Joel Woodcock and Blake McCamey, were in bands that weren’t willing to push themselves, so we decided to start a new band. With one phone call to future lead singer Evan McCamey, the acoustic indie-rock band started in a garage. The writing and music came easily; the image took awhile longer, but in weeks Before We Leave was playing shows all around the Indianapolis and Bloomington areas. All four members quickly realized that this band stood out in the Indiana music scene and was worth spending a lot of time and effort pursuing. After recruiting a friend of Evan’s, the band established its style with the addition of a cellist. After that, our signature sound came out at every performance, with the classical stringed instrument seemingly fitting into every groove. With the creative hands of Sina Akande, we became a five-piece band.

evan, i remember when i was a sophomore or junior in hs and you and me were in a practice room and you were messing around with a new song you had written, which apparently was the beginning of 'angels watch her'
i randomly clicked onto your page tonight and just thought i would say it's obvious you have improved a lot and i love how the band makes that song sound. keep working and getting better, there is a lot of potential with this!
So, we're planning on a CD release on July 26th... you guys wanna play?? It would be in Indy somewhere.. still trying to figure out the best place to have it.
Hey, thanks for the kind words. I welcome any and all Ryan Adams comparisons, haha. Really enjoying the new songs. And yes, a Bloomington show should definitely happen.
good show today @ starbucks, hope your show went great tonight. here's the video I shot today. the audio isn't that great and the sun was shining right into the camera so there's a purple line down Sina's entire body, I think it's there the whole time. If you give me an email adress, I'll be able to email all of the photos I took there are some awesome ones. thanks for playing guys. -- Anthony Savage
