Influences .....’I believe you cannot express everything through music, but it is through music, the melodies, rhythms and lyrics that I try to pass on a message of how I see and experience the world. My music style does not fit into any specific category with my influences coming from everywhere - from childhood in the Indian Ocean, through travels around the world, encounters with all kinds of people along the way and energies of moments and places. I have learned the importance of respect, of the wisdom of elders, the dangers of ignorance and the power of nature and the human spirit. Many of these encounters have appeared magical and have been inspirational to me. They have taught me how music transcends all language and brings harmony and joy to people. Perfoming to me is the ultimate way of communicating with other human beings’ Roy

   About Roy with Chameleoneye
Welcome to Roy and Chameleoneye’s myspace! Here are some things that people have written about us: None of Roys gigs are the same. It is his vision to combine traditional instruments with modern ones, to bring together guest musicians from different backgrounds, whose individual styles reflect their diversity and to allow them to express this freely together. This produces the sound of Roy and Chameleoneye. Seeing them perform is like being part of a highly energised jam session where combined with the energy of each venue and the hugely varied audiences this mixture of musicians will always produce something new. Roy’s own backgorund is traditional and his particular way of performing and singing is very much influenced by this along with other kinds of music. Roy aims to transcend cultural and political borders through music and to keep the sound in a state of constant renewal and evolution. By bringing together instruments such as the kora, balfon, djembe or talking drums (traditional instruments) and combining them with electric guitar, bass, sax, keyboard, violin and drumkit he is able to express his vision with each instrument contributing equally to create a groove and the sound that is Roy and Chameleoeneye. More info: When not performing with his band Chameleoneye, Roy performs as a session percussionist /backing vocals (myspace.com/royrhythm) with different artists. He performed at events such as the 'London Award' in November 2006 at Earls Court alongside artists such including 'Michael Jackson, Nelly Furtado, Rihanna, Beyoncé, Faithless, Enya, Katie Melua, Bob Sinclar, Mary J. Blige, Andrea Bocelli & Dima Bilan. He was also part of the percussion at Telefônica Open Jazz at the Cocacola Dome in Johannesburg in September 2008 with special guest Chaka Khan. Roy also plays percussion alongside djs such as Jorge Montiel, Dj Molasses Khay aka Afro Sol in Europe amongst others. These gigs often result in the release of a newly worked track. He has also performed in advertising promotions for Sony in Tokyo and modelled as a musician for Storm Agency in London. He has played for the NSPCC at 606 club in London, at Trivandrum University, South India for UNICEF and has performed at several of the Music for Children outdoor events in London. (www.music4children.org)He has been part of a drumming workshop for children held at Womad Festival in the UK several times. In June 2007 he joined the energetic Jam Sahel in Paris, organised by " le guerrier mandingue" Cheik Tidiane Seck, in aid of the people of the Sahel (www.jamsahel.org). Contributing to these events is especially important to him. ROY IN JAPAN. SEPTEMBER 2005. ROY IN NEW YORK. LP/MEINL DRUMS & PERCUSSIONS CLINICS. FEB 2009. CALCUTTA. MARCH 2006.

BEFORE YOU POST A COMMENT... if you're advertising anything - be it your latest release, mixtape, clubnite, porn flick or whatever, your comment will be deleted. The few exceptions to this are close fam and crew but even then... If you're not sure if your comment will be approved, it probably won't. Too much spam advertising going on round here.
Also, 'Roy with Chameleoneye' is not specialized in Networking and Lifestyling services for the Artists. We are not an agency nor an Entertainment Industry.
Blablabla! People talk, talk and talk...
People talk but hardly ever do what they say.
We are not naive at all. The 'Music Industry' is a Business, even though music shouldn't be a business but something else.
To whom it may concern.

Did you know that you could travel far & wide to satisfy the hunter's instinct? Roxtons is probably the most reputable hunting agency. Established 30 years ago, it has access to some of the best & biggest shoots in Britain. Out of season it arranges overseas trips for game enthusiasts. In Morocco, between June & August, you can shoot turtledove. However, if you are a Moroccan turtledove, consider yourself lucky. Eared doves in Argentina suffer a worse fate. The South American country is so overrun with doves that there is no close season & you can blast away whenever you like with impunity. A more luxurious outing offered by Roxtons is shooting game birds from a train, which doubles as a hotel, in South Africa. The train takes between 16 & 20 people & is used as a mobile shooting lodge, chugging from one shooting ground to the next hunting for dove, pigeon, duck, geese & sand grouse. The trip takes between five & ten days & costs start at £15,000 per couple.
Have you ever heard of this advert? 'Fancy the odd tame lion or tiger? South Africa is the place for you'. There are genuine nutters out there who pay up to £16,000 to shoot semi-domestic lions & tigers in game reserves. Even more gruesome, you can fly to Zimbawe for $30,000 & shoot a more less tame elephant, although there's then more to cough up if you want to bring bits of the poor beast home with you as a trophy. Remember, shooting in Britain is more popular now than it has ever been. Syndicates are brimful, and from the smallest to the smartest, there are waiting lists for membership. Next to football fans, shooting fans are the most obsessive. They will drive the length & the breadth of the country in search of quarry, but unlike the football season, the shooting season is relatively short. The sport contributes millions of the British economy.
But what about the economy in Morocco, Argentina, South Africa & Zimbawe?! Babington House-Somerset, August 2008.

Better is simply not good enough!
Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela spent 27 years in prison, on convictions for crimes that included sabotage committed while he spearheaded the struggle against apartheid.
Following his release from prison on 11 February 1990, his switch to a policy of reconciliation and negotiation helped lead the transition to
multi-racial democracy in South Africa.
Remember: Cape town has always been different, but in her snobbish,
languid way she has always represented the concerns of South Africa. Chief
among these is violent crime, which terrories the nation. The number rate in the Western Cape is 85 per 100,000 (compared with six for New York). The poor in the townships live in constant peril. Every man lives in fear of
the gun in his face when he enters his driveway. Every woman lives in fear of the gang rape in her own bedroom. Ministers move nowhere with a troop of armed bodyguards.
The White population of South Africa shrank by over 800,000 between 1995
and 2005, from 12.5 per cent of the population to nine per cent. There has been an exodus of white engineers, managers, accountants, doctors, teachers, and artisans to Australia, Europe and the USA. Crime is certainly a major reason, but so is 'affirmative action', the racist
practice of discriminating against white people for appointments and
promotion.
While the whites are fleeing, blacks from the rest of Africa are flooding in. You would think this would please those black people who want 'Africa
for Africans' but on the contrary they are furiously resentful of black immigrants and there has been a state of war in Gauteng, where local blacks are killing blacks from Zimbawe.
Also, the number of South Africans living on less than a dollar a day more than doubled between 1996 and 2005.
Finally, HIV can cause AIDS. Thousands of lives of poor Africans has been sacrificed!
We are still promoting decency, racial tolerence & good sense.
London, July 2008.

You can't fool all the people all the time!
From the top of Table Mountain you look down upon the most spectacular
scenery, the most graceful suburbs and the most violent slums on Earth.
Immadiately below, in smug, oak-lined splendour, lies central Cape Town,
home to the South African parliament. Away from the mountains and sea
where the rich people live, but not many miles beyond, is the grimy,
gang-ridden, drug-infested Cape Flats, probably the most dangerous place
in the world that is not at war.
Near the foot of the mountain, in fashionable Green Point, they are
building the football stadium that will hold a semi-final for the 2010
World Cup. This is a silly place for it, far from the mass of soccer fans
who live in the Cape Flats, but FIFA (International Federation of
Association Football) wanted the stadium to have agreeable views and its
foreign visitors not to be sullied by contact with poverty.
London, July 2008.
