BIOGRAPHY: Boris Karloff once said; “Nature is just as content to destroy as it is to create” and Crowned By Fire are “Prone To Destroy” everything in sight, all in the name of creation.
Hailing from Los Angeles, CBF was conceived in early 2006 by vocalist John “The Impaler” Fitterer, guitarist Justin Manning, bass player Jason "Dread" Boccia and drummer JR Crampton. Tagged as “southern/stoner metal” by the web based Encyclopedia Metallum, CBF embraces this eclectic genre eager to prove with “Prone To Destroy” that they are in a league of their own. Think tight and punchy like Slayer but dangerously loose like Guns N Roses, while keeping that over-the-top sound and larger than life feel.
John Fitterer on vocals with his foot in a dive bar, trip to the Moon approach to writing, think Motorhead’s Orgasmatron and Black Sabbath’s Symptom Of The Universe while throwin’ back a cosmic cocktail with Aleister Crowley during a Charles Bukowski bar fight. John’s love for horror, sci-fi, tribal history, mysticism and classic rock are evidently clear in his writing, creating a heavy psyche melodic doom feel.
Justin Manning on guitar who has been taught by and worked extensively with such legends Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Ozbourne, BLS) -and George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob) has a Slash-like swagger and an intense Dimebag approach to his riffing and solos. In an un-inflated mouthful, Justin is well on his way to becoming the next guitar hero!
Dread on bass (former recent Green Jello touring guitarist) has a Lemmy Kilmeister, Cliff Burton attack to his Duff McKagan vibe. His knowledge of punk rock and metal guitar playing has given him a unique approach on bass. Most bassists play from a bass player standpoint, where as Jason plays from a guitarists standpoint, thus giving CBF a cutthroat vibe.
JR Crampton's machine gun, take no prisoners, drumming is second to none. His abilities to lock in with the strings is crucial to capturing the percussiveness of CBF. Being the backbone of CBF, JR possesses a sense of pocket and rapid fire ferocity.
In 2007, Crowned By Fire self produced the EP “As The World Burns” defining their sound and gaining international acclaim. According to Banesa Martinez of Rock Harder Radio Sweden: "As The World Burns"- the California lads have taken out the nailer and obtained a firm grip around the future sound within hard rock single-handed.” At this point, the sound and songs germinated to becoming the seed that brought the attention to their now label, Molten Metal Productions UK. CBF was brought to Florence, Italy in the winter of 08‘ for 5 weeks to record their debut album "Prone To Destroy" at the prestigious Larione 10 Studios.
Since then, Crowned By Fire has plagued the California scene killing the witch with intense live performances. With the release of "Prone To Destroy" as their catapult, Crowned By Fire are destined to conquer and burn their permanent mark on the heavy music industry! BURN ON!!!
