Classically trained on upright bass, and in choir from the age of 10 years old, D. Anson has been involved full time in the music scene since 2007.
In late 06 Anson started playing guitar. He recalls "I was selling guitars at a music shop, and when I showed a customer an acoustic guitar I played it slap pop style like a bass. The customer dug it but, one of the other employees pulled me aside and said, "You can't play guitar like that" Which was the wrong thing to say to me! I started practicing and honing in my technique right there in the shop until my boss loaned me his Gibson J150 to practice on. I tuned it to C and started wailing, a little too hard maybe. When I gave the guitar back it was probably more superglue than guitar"
Focused on songwriting, Anson believes that his technique is a means to an end, and not an end in itself. His passionate and emotive performances are often noted as his main draw. "People like flashy technique, but ultimately they want to connect. Music is a language, it's communication, not just a magic show, not just a monkey doing tricks. "
Currently D. Anson is learning to play banjo, cello, and baritone sax, touring and playing as much as he can. He also has started writing a book of poetry, and He plans to work through the fall on a full length album, and hopes to release it in the spring of 2010.
"It's an exiting time. I love all of my fans, and I love talking to them,"
-D. Anson

Hi! Wow, you have been all over. I love a bunch of your images from your travels. I bet u r having a blast!! What is your favorite place so far? We relocated to Colorado & love it here. Zaine has many more people hear liking his music too ;)
Awe...Brody! Thanks sweetie. How's life treating you? Zaine said you are in Indiana. We are having so much fun here in Colorado. It brings me back to my childhood in Michigan with the snow & the basements ;) ...Start AGAIN!!!!! Miss seeing you sing that.
Ansonnn! How's it going man? What are YOU doing in Indiana?
I moved to Denver a couple weeks ago. It's been the best time of my life, and it has provided bountiful musical inspirations. The room that is in my basement has one of the best studio sounds for recording that I've ever worked with...call it luck?
I was thinking of eating Jack in the Box and armadillos in a leaky old building surrounded by people I love. Thought I'd swing by the old myspace and see what you were up to.
Dude - your show Friday night at The Livery in Benton Harbor was off the hook. I couldn't tell which was singing louder - you, your guitars, or your soul. You're a phenom who by all appearances is the love child from some whack orgy between Tom Waits, Leon Redbone, Chris Rea, Les Claypool, Joan Baez, Carole King, etc. If you're a record executive who's reading this, grab your check book and run - don't walk - to your phone and get to callin' this boy. If you're selling stock, I'm buying!!! D'Anson - thanks for a great night and some stellar tunes!!!
