Most of you will already know of my involvement as musician and studio engineer with Kate Bush.
It has been, from an artistic point of view, an incredibly fruitful liaison for me. I feel privileged
to have had a front row seat to watch a true artiste create so many musical masterpieces.
It started with the "pub" band called the KT Bush Band in 1977. Right from the the beginning we were doing embryonic versions of songs which would appear on Kate's first album such as James and the Cold Gun. We had a stage presentation which would later form the basis for the Tour of Life in 1979. I recall we did a presentation gig for EMI at a London club called The White Elephant. This was so they could see how she was progressing as a performer. We did a short set of her songs and EMI loved it. However, it proved to be the end of the KT Bush Band as, shortly after, Kate went into the studio to record her first album.
By early 1978 we had a small studio where Kate would be able to record her demo's for the Lionheart album. As no one wanted to do the recording it fell to me and, as they say, the rest is history. I have been involved as recording engineer from the Hounds of Love album onwards. I have never had any formal training as an engineer but I like to think that I have a good "feel" for the job.
During my early forays into engineering I was given valuable help and advice by some wonderful engineers particularly Paul Hardiman. "Hardman" was so supportive of my getting involved and was never precious about what he did. He would always answer any question I had and give me practical tips. I had some great laughs with Paul.
Since those days I have worked almost exclusively with Kate as musician and engineer... Although there have been many other projects my work with Kate has been my most fruitful... Now, however I feel the time is right to branch out into other projects and have involvement with other interesting artistes...

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dale Stallins for his invaluable help with this site
My old mate and longest musical collaborator has now joined us all on Myspace... Please do check out his music...
Just in case you don't know Stuart has played drums on all of Kate's albums!!...
Thanks Del. To be honest, I'm really not sure but you've made me feel better anyway and at least I didn't blow myself up with the preamp! (Lol). But seriously, thanks...
Del I listened to your new song a few times now...I love the lyrics ('broken doll twisting', such evocative imagery) and especially the 1st line which really draws you into the story. I picked up a slightly, eastern (?) hypnotic vibe which is great. That instrumental break between 3.45 - 4.19 (is it electric guitar here? really cool sound) is very exotic...I like very much. I'm so glad she came by!! xxx
Hello Del, Yes you were right... Steely Dan were good but the songs(Aaah)... the strangest version of Reelin in the Years I have ever heard. It was one self indulgent Jazz Fest.Great sounding venue though..The NIA birmingham... x
Easily the best Realised on this page. This comment is sure to be lost in the shuffle. I am still anylising ;-} No worries, mate! You're still Del.....but I am listening
Okay. I surrender - lost in your Rhythm No. 6... those changing time sigs... dangerously infectious... lovely spacey bridge at 3:12 had me moving the cursor back to replay it... Ka-ching indeed!
it comes to me from a mix of what that section says, how you sing it (I love that high voice of yours) and the instrumentation...I swear that sentence please tell me now to hold on tight took me by surprise, and made me physically hold my breath!
at last the spirit of internet answered my pray and I have just been listening to rhythm n°6...what a song Del ! I don't know why I shed a tear...that change of chords (English?) when you sing please tell me now hold on tight still makes me tremble...and those lyrics...
Now I can see the joy of Rhythm number 6..And you know, the more I hear a wonderful Cylon song, the more his kind, inspiring words are treasured !! :):) x
Oh! I think i got here just in time for the first play of Rhythm No. 6!!!!! I think your time with the faeries Has been fruitful...I like the groove...especially like the part that goes 'In that time that's been wasted...' nice work!!!
Del, see what I mean about the quality of email against uploading directly - with email the images are compressed & fuzzy - I will try my best to get the photos on disc & posted to you on Monday & you can post them on your GITF page. I'll post the ones you've already posted on your page here too.
Thanks, Del! Yep, back home safe and sound. So wonderful meeting you, and hearing you "live!" As you say, the GITF was a complete blast - what an evening, indeed! Great to open your page and hear High On Love again - for me, it's become a bit of a theme song for the GITF evening! I'm still on a high from the whole event - so glad I made it it there!
