Movies
TOO MANY. I love comedies, horror movies and documentaries most of all. However, I'll seriously watch anything. Great cinema may transform and redeem, but bad cinema provides endless snarkage & bonding ops.
The best film I've seen this year is There Will Be Blood. I still like bowling. I also think Jason Reitman is a decent director, but he parties about as well as my mom.
Television
Fuck McSpaced!
Books
The Great Gatsby, Lolita, Laurel Canyon, Strip City, comics, anything about the '60s and '70s rock scenes, film and TV criticism, old Hollywood stuff, biographies and memoirs, oral histories, art books, you name it. I don't read a buttload of fiction these days, and I should probably remedy that. I have a book about Luis Bunuel on my coffee table that I've never read. I like saying "Luis Bunuel."
I haven't figured out how 2 leave a blog comment with my 3G iPhone yet. Jackson Hole just barely entered the 21st century the 11th. Tom's app works well 4 what it does here. The Russkis already have a hack 2 unlock these devices, but an Ivan with a vintage hacked iPhone lost service as soon as the 3G hit the grid. My Candy Girl is taking a circuitous route through AZ, IL, & back to U. I'm patient. Has Jobs sent U a new MBAir yet? Solid state or spinner? Best Wishes, as always.
I really enjoyed JUNO a lot and thought it was extremely well written and the editing was great. It really should have won the OSCAR for BEST PICTURE over NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN which was basically the same old HOLLYWOOD formula...badly edited....and in my opinion, didn't really even have a good ending to the film...I didn't want things to be "left up to my imagination on whether the villian ever got back his suitcase full of money...no wonder one of the writers had a stupid look on his face and really had nothing to say when he was up at the podium...he knew. Just goes to show how much the "ACADEMY" knows about movies. I also love your hairstyle...especially your dark bangs...I mean that only as a compliment...not a come-on and I wish you the best of luck on your next writing endeavor. I think you are GREAT! VERY CLEVER LINES IN YOUR JUNO SCRIPT!!! KUDOS!
epic horror night, a complete spooky package! you are even more charming in person than i expected, even with the guy who made you take dictation(remember?). also, you do smell remotely familiar too, or is that pheromones? i’ll never wash that sharpie again. - j
Thanks for the add! Just read Candy Girl and enjoyed it, even though it is distrubing in areas. Candy Girl is gonzo journalizm - very much in the spirit of Hunter Thompson!
I am half way through Candy Girl, and I have to say that it is the most accurate portrayal of the strip club business that I have ever read/heard. You should really make Candy Girl a movie! lol
Sounds like Mondo is going marvelous-o. Would have loved to have been there for Stripes night...Will never forget seeing that on opening weekend in '81 with a packed house...and we laughed our butts off. Still one of my fave films (God bless John Candy; he is still missed)...One of the best movie going memories of my life. Best to everyone at New Beverly and blog about it when you can.--Jeffrey

That was the fastest add I've ever received. Whoever is checking your myspace is good. Loved JUNO, OBV! I wrote a review of it when it first hit theatres and have peddled it to everyone I know. I was wondering what your writing routine is like. Mine's an early morning ritual involving earl grey tea and jazz. Do you have rituals or fiddle over pre-set things you need? Or does it come at any time like in a bar and you have to jot something down on a napkin? I hope you get another project out soon. Too much shit in theatres these days. Later.
