Who I'd like to meet: Welcome to the official Ditch the Label Myspace profile!
Ditch the Label is a NEW campaign, orientating around social labels and the stereotypes associated with them. We hope that together, we can literally ditch the stereotypes associated with labels!
At Ditch the Label, we believe that you are unique and that one, two or even three idiotic social labels in regard to your gender, race, sexuality, appearance, lifestyle or even favourite colour cannot define your entire personality.
Social labels are the reason why many young people worldwide feel the need to take their own lives or to exclude themselves, because they don't 'fit in' with the 'normal' people; we hope to change this, because it is seriously getting old.
The world isn't divided by 20 categories of different people; it is divided by ~6,602,224,175 categories of personality!
Ditch the Label was established in the summer of 2007, and, ever since, the campaign has proven to be an enormous influence to people worldwide – people are beginning to emerge from their shells and are confident in their true personality!
Think about it, we're all different, right? Why should people hide certain attributes about themselves just to please the minority of narrow-minded people around them?
This is just the tip of the Ditch the Label iceburg! We've recently expanded to the big World Wide Web and you can find us at DitchtheLabel.com , here you will discover so much amazing content; such as: regular news and updates, advice, poems and stories from people that have experienced labels, MERCHANDISE, contact numbers, promotional material and much, much more - along with our multi-user forum! Enabling you to chat with thousands of people worldwide!
It's all exciting stuff so make sure you check it out!
We're fighting back, together!
Join the war against social labels and stereotypes; together, we can literally change the world.
More information about Ditch the Label
So, what exactly does Ditch the Label hope to achieve? Here at DTL, we understand that labels of GRSA (Gender, Race, Sexuality, Appearance etc.) are all vital in society; although, we rebel against the hurtful stereotypes associated with these labels. We hope to reduce these stereotypes and we want to make people feel confident, happy and proud within themselves!
Q+A with DiageoLiam (Founder of the DTL Campaign)
Have I been affected by labels?
Well the only person that can determine that, is yourself. Of course, the majority of people are effected by labels; some more than others. Here's a few common examples:
- Boys aren't allowed to cry and follow sports
- Girls are way too sensitive and vain; they try to be size '0'
- Gays are over-effeminate and are riddled with HIV
- Lesbians have shaven heads and are extremely masculine
- Obese people spend their time eating infront of the television
- Under-weight people are attention seekers
- Black people are illegal immegrants and are 'low down' in society
- White people are dominant and racist
- Unemployed people are lazy and uneducated
- People with a profession are arrogant and 'up themselves'
The list is literally endless...
How do I deal with bullying?
There is no guaranteed way to combat the bullies that discriminate against you for any particular reason. I'm sure you've been told countless times to either 'laugh it off' or to 'ignore it', but this doesn't work - does it? It just aggrevates the situation. If telling a relative or teacher close to you doesn't work - the only thing left is to grab the situation into your own hands; and no, I don't mean literally - avoid fighting at all costs! What I mean is, you should fight for who you really are; tell the bullies how they are making you feel about it and explain to them that you are your own person, as are they. You can't control your attributes, nor would you even want to. You should be proud of who you are and yes, it may be difficult initially but once you've established the respect from your piers; everthing will become a breeze! At high school, I found it really tough; infact, they were the most difficult times of my life. I was discriminated against daily because of my sexuality, at one point I wanted to take my own life but since leaving school, my eyes have been opened and I now understand that all of the discrimination I had against me was because the bullies doing it didn't fully understand me and they were scared! In most cases, the bullies are actually jealous of you! You should step back and look on the situation; who is the one obsessed with you? The one that can't stop thinking about you? Can't stop talking about you? Yeahhh, it's the bully, not you.

About FTM Book Vol. 1 FTM Book Vol 1: A Basic Introduction to Transman Life is an easy-to-understand, yet comprehensive primer on FTM issues such as:
What is an FTM? How do FTMs see themselves? Appearance Stages in Transition Surgeries Available Common Personal Histories Violence Discrimination Health Issues Counseling Relationships Common Legal Issues
We've worked hard to help create definitions that will help you talk about trans issues with others, including terms for body parts unique to the FTM and by naming the stages of transitioning. This book is great for anyone who who is having trouble understanding the lifestyle or choices of a transperson. When we first began dating, we were shocked that there was no one place that he (Aaron) could turn to show me (Crystal) "See, this explains what being an FTM means." We hope that this book will be a good start.
Best of all, when you order FTM Book Vol. 1: A Basic Introduction to Transman Life you can feel good knowing that sales of the book are being used to fund more research to help FTMs and their partners get through the challenges of their lives. This is a great book for youself and for anyone you know who could use a little more understanding. Also, you can help teach others about trans issues by donating copies to your local high schools, colleges, LGBT centers and libraries.
