DrumsForCures, Inc. presents drumSTRONG, a unique, multicultural charity event held in the pastures of Misty Meadows Farm to raise funds to support those dealing with cancer, cancer education, awareness, and funding for research. It involves people of all ages and is a musical event focusing attention on educating youth to the causes, early detection and affects of cancer. Cancer health is our primary mission :: drumming is our modus operendi.
** The Guinnesss World Record organization has been informed that drumSTRONG drummers (and other musicians) will keep continuous rhythm in motion for at least 27 hours starting on May 16, 2009 just outside of Charlotte, NC in Weddington.
A horde of professional and celebrity artists have been invited to participate. Full stage and backline support will be on site and all present will play along with center stage activities.
** health fest **
An area at each event features medical, integrative & holistic health entities, specific cancer societies, and cancer support organizations. They display their missions and methods showing the local and national resourses available to address cancer concerns.
The music attracts many people to an event where questions about health (particularly cancer) can be addressed. Cancer education and familiarizing oneself to the available tools and resources to deal with the disease simply puts the odds in ones favor; knowing one's adversary is the classic model for survival. Few people are not "touched" by cancer in some fashion...
** DrumsForCures, Inc. a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit charity organization produces drumSTRONG and donates all proceeds to the Levine Children's Hospital Hematology/Oncology Center at CMC and the Lance Armstrong Foundation. It also organizes a national network of percussionists to bring rhythm into children's hospitals and clinics for the unifying, healing and entertainment values. We know that it works on many levels.
** Drum to rekindle the fire of survivorship in you, drum in honor of or in memory of or just out of the goodness of your hearts. Drum with hopes of opening the eyes and hearts of more people to amplify efforts to find cures. Drum to respect and represent all the fighters and survivors who share this history.
** Much more info. is shared on the website www.drumstrong.org.

** “We must never be so self-absorbed as to become insensitive to the situation around us. Everyone can do something, beginning with oneself, one’s family, one’s neighborhood. We must always be mindful that ours is one world; improving it in part improves it as a whole.”
Rebbe Schneerson

hi Scott, hopping around myspace and stopped to check out the site. My mother passed away from cancer this year. I would really like to get more involved in cancer awarenes and prevention. Depending on my schedule and financial situation I may try to make it to Drumstrong in 2009.
