Born in Ecuador, raised in California, Fernando began his career in the late '80s.
With a rather smooth singing voice, he tends to record pop-ish urban dance music and an occasional message rap tune. He's one of the first Hispanics to make a strong presence in gospel music; however, because of his outspoken pride in his Latin heritage, he's also become a visible role model to young Hispanics (mostly of a non-traditional Protestant bent) who are increasingly beginning to listen to gospel music. Among his records were 1992's Latin Perspective and 1997's En la Interseccion. ~ Bil Carpenter
