BIG THANKS to everyone who came down to this years's festival, it was a fantastic weekend.
See you all next year!.

Welcome to the 14th Annual Newcastle Community Green Festival, the UK’s biggest free community environmental festival takes place on Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th June 2008 in Leazes Park, Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Last year’s festival saw 15,000 people coming together to celebrate the start of summer in the biggest and most diverse festival we’ve run yet. This year the festival continues it’s evolution with a huge range of activities planned, and a real focus on the environmental issues that are the reason the festival exists.

We should perhaps take this opportunity to explain the difference between the 2 days of the festival, as we try to plan the 2 days carefully to appeal to different tastes and needs of the whole community.

Essentially many of the same activities will take place on both days, however in general the Saturday is kept to being a slightly quieter, more family friendly day with lower music levels, a focus on world music and activities from many different cultures, no alcohol being served on the site and an earlier finish.

Sunday is the full festival day, when the same range of family friendly activities will still be available, but the music is generally a bit louder, we have bars serving a wide range of beers & other alcoholic drinks. While it is generally a bit noisier and busier on the Sunday there are still quieter areas of the festival to enjoy, and a third of the site is kept as a no-drinking area suitable for children and the quieter activities.

Please note that full details about the festival are still being finalised, and will be released on this website at the start of May.

The festival is a community run festival, and relies on volunteers to make it happen. There are many opportunities for volunteers to help out on both days of the festival, as well as before and after the festival. In return we can offer you food and drinks tokens, which can be redeemed on site, perhaps earning you a well deserved drink after work. We ask that anyone who has a few hours to spare helps out in whatever way you can as well as enjoying the festival. If you particularly want to enjoy the full Sunday Festivities why not spare a couple of hours on Saturday to help out the family day and vice versa. If you wish to get involved contact gen.vol.ncl.gf@googlemail.com
