Earl Karlsen on mandolin & vocals, Kim Gluckler, a guitar slingin' harmony singer, Arnie Reisman on the 5 (aka "banjo") and vocals, and most importantly, Jeff Propert on bass and vocals!
Yes we have banjo and we play those high lonesome make-the-hair-on-the-back-of-your-neck-stand-up kind of songs. Sometimes we bring in a fiddle player or el dobro supremo...but we're real fine as a simple four piece. A couple of us have been playin together for over a decade so we just kind of know how the other guy's gonna sing it. It's like the magic of a brother or sister harmony without all the hair pullin', scrappin' and scuffles that come with growing up together. Singin' songs & breakin' hearts; that's our mandolin player EARL KARLSEN. He's also the host of the Bluegrass Express every Saturday from 6am to 9am on WFDU, 89.1 FM. ARNIE REISMAN, who has mastered the art of Scruggs style banjo, is not only prime pickins when it comes to his banjo, he's a great harmony singer who can find his spot not matter where it is. I suppose all that banjo tuning has served him well. KIM GLUCKLER spices it up with her guitar and full bodied vocals while JEFF PROPERT serves up a walkin' slab of bass (without which we'd be nothing of course). Saturdays 9am - Noon. http://WRFL.FM i probably won't be back on the air until after Christmas... one bluegrass dj passed away, and the other quit unexpectedly, so the folk-show djs and i are taking turns until i find replacements.
cool! i knew we'd make a productive citizen out of you sooner or later! Hey, i'm back on the air for a while... played some Heavy Traffic Saturday morning!
There's always a party for you there. I'm throwing Mel's Annual Birthday Bash next weekend. By some unexplained coincidence it happens at the same time and place as Meteor Shower.
Howdy do! Quick note I been meaning to write saying that I enjoyed our gigs together over the summer. (Lost ya at Wind Gap though) Holler at me when ya can... Rich
