Earl Karlsen on mandolin & vocals, Kim Gluckler, a guitar slingin' harmony singer, Arnie Reisman on the 5 (aka "banjo") and vocals, and most importantly, Jeff Propert on bass and vocals!
Yes we have banjo and we play those high lonesome make-the-hair-on-the-back-of-your-neck-stand-up kind of songs. Sometimes we bring in a fiddle player or el dobro supremo...but we're real fine as a simple four piece. A couple of us have been playin together for over a decade so we just kind of know how the other guy's gonna sing it. It's like the magic of a brother or sister harmony without all the hair pullin', scrappin' and scuffles that come with growing up together. Singin' songs & breakin' hearts; that's our mandolin player EARL KARLSEN. He's also the host of the Bluegrass Express every Saturday from 6am to 9am on WFDU, 89.1 FM. ARNIE REISMAN, who has mastered the art of Scruggs style banjo, is not only prime pickins when it comes to his banjo, he's a great harmony singer who can find his spot not matter where it is. I suppose all that banjo tuning has served him well. KIM GLUCKLER spices it up with her guitar and full bodied vocals while JEFF PROPERT serves up a walkin' slab of bass (without which we'd be nothing of course).
