I have immensely eclectic taste. From B52's through Devo to Nine Inch Nails, Live, Annie Lennox, Billy Bragg, Presidents of the United States of America, Ted Hawkins, Taj Mahal, NoFX & many more.
Unfortunately I don't sound like any of them!
I have always been obsessed with music. I've tried on a number of occasions to get involved with making music. In my late 20's I was bass player in 2 one-gig bands ("Making Garage Doors Badly" being my favourite). But, coz my sister told me I couldn't sing when I was 12, I never took it very far.
Not long after my 40th birthday I met this musician who I started to hang around with, after about a year I asked for a singing lesson. Who knows, my sister may have been wrong...
Well, I'm still not sure, but I do it anyway! I even write my own stuff. I'm struggling with the guitar, but I sometimes manage to make my songs sound vaguely like I hear them in my head.
I can be heard playing at open mic nights & folk clubs in & around Bristol (UK) most nights of the week. I gig occasionally. I'd like to do more but I can't be bothered with all the hassle of chasing promoters. I'm sometimes accompanied by my good friend Richard Burley (www.myspace.com/richardgburley) who is a great songwriter, fabulous guitarist & super singer as well as being good people.
Find out more about some of the things I used to be involved in by going to Bristol Acoustic Roots Singer Songwriter Festival & www.myspace.com/barssfest, SongSmith Bristol as well as the all new SongSmith Club.

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
Hey friend remember us we would like to think you because wit out you we couldn't of gotten so far, we started this account 3years ago and we never would expect to go so far wit the band

Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
We realise how this is quite obviously automated and you will probably consider it as spam and ignore it.. but if you are feeling the need for a some fresh new music please visit our page and give our new EP a listen. We've worked really hard on it and had some excellent feedback so far and would love to hear what you guys think.
