From the country that gave the world Snow Patrol and Ash comes its latest rising talent: Hoax. Taking the heart gripping intensity of the former, and adding the rocking consistency of the latter, this four piece are making their presence known at keynote gigs in NI and beyond. With solid gigging and two formidable demo cds since 2003, they have cut their teeth on honest, powerful and unashamedly direct songwriting.
Reviews have called Hoax "A Marshall fired rock band with a beer in one hand a Les Paul in the other." But in lead singer Mark Enderby, Hoax also have passionate and sincere frontman who keeps his balls where his mouth is. His delivery soars forward through every track, while the solid rhythmic undertow makes sure this band drives home its message with class and conviction.
"Load Your Gun" is a display of mature, hook laden, and well developed flair. And though its poignant, the band's impressive soul baring isn't shoe gazing for a second - rather, in wearing their hearts on their sleeves, Hoax have penned some of the most affecting songs to come out of the country's current generation of unsigned talent.
With the influences of classic Manchester mixed with the harder emotional edge of the Northern Irish, this band has an ear for the anthem. Referencing the soulful drive of "This Is My Truth" era Manics with the nod toward Snow Patrol's epic "Run", Hoax are a band that deliver in spades, on the road and on cd.
