Influences
Combination of Varied musical backgrounds and love of good roots music, we class our style as Aotearoa Roots.
Committed to making a difference in an uninformed unconscious and unjust world, by bringing uplifting soul felt motivational music.
Picture a warm, sunny summers day on the beautiful Kapiti coast. Where the sea meets hill scapes and untouched native forest. This is the place where Homefire Burning as a band first surfaced early in 2006.
The formation of the band was somewhat unplanned but certainly not unwanted. Matiu Te Huki (vocals/guitar) met Troy Hunt (guitar) and after a few months of jamming with some other musicians, the energy and dynamic was complete.
Homefire Burning is an eclectic group of like-minded musicians who bring the sound of organic, conscious roots & reggae music to the masses. The band will start recording their debut album in october 2006 due for release in Janurary 2007.
The band has been gigging extensively during past 4 months and have appeared on The Good Morning Show & the north island live circuit. They have built a strong live foundation and will be touring & performing that in early 2007 to coincide with their debut album release.

Kia ora I have your DVD's of Parihaka prepared for you, I love to listen the performance, so full of love and caring for humanity, awesome guys..I think you captured the spirit of the festival and spread it around with such ease and smoothness, wish I could have done so much more for you, but limited resource.. anyway lets meetup and korero.. I'm sure you will love to relive the event with the visuals too, I roamed right up the hill and zoomed back down while you played "we are watchin you".. so fitting.. I could have lingered on the three policemen while you sang "enough is enough" but was in a hurry to get back to the stage to capture the end part. chur guys.. paul // moza
