A constant drive for knowledge and human evolution is an undeniable consequence of man's existence. This principal is also a driving force within our individual artistic expressions. Freud said that depression is the inability to fully express ones creativity, and this theory is key.
We progress, we keep moving outward and forward without knowing the reasons why. Human beings as a whole will either ultimately prevail or we will succumb to our own destructive instincts. Desire is an elemental tool in our evolution as a species, not in any materialistic sense but in a universal and all encompassing one. We must admit that we do not know why or how we are here, or I fear that we never will.
We supplement our ignorance with our selfishness and call it faith. I call it complacency and I want nothing to do with it. Hollow and afraid we continue on through the void looking for anything to grab on to, to embrace, to call our own. But the reality of it all is we know no purpose outside of our basic instincts and self gratification. Yet we continue on as a whole, as individuals, to what aim- I do not know, nor do you.
Creation, art, and self expression are the tools of those whom seek legacy and change. For as long as our creation lasts, we live on. If I have any effect outside of my mind- I am successful. This is the drive behind The Pavor Nocturnus among many of my projects- take it or leave it, love it or hate it, this music is for me and if you don't enjoy it- I don't give a fuck. If I didn't do this- I wouldn't be here.
