Biografia:
Gli Absentia si formano nella mediterranea e desolata città di Sassari, quando nella primavera dell’anno 2006 Danilo Fois (voce e chitarra), abbandonato il gruppo precedente, decide di portare avanti un nuovo progetto musicale. Obiettivo comporre musica senza barriere, scandita con liriche di un ermetismo poetico considerando sempre la musica come la prima cosa. Si aggiungono di seguito il batterista Antonio Piga, il bassista Carlo Chinello ed il chitarrista Alessandro Lindiri. Il gruppo si forma ufficialmente nell’autunno dello stesso anno.
Il nome del gruppo deriva da una parola latina che significa "assenza", rappresentazione di uno stato d’animo come comune denominatore di tutti i brani.
Dovendo attribuire un genere, il più adatto è quello indie rock alternativo, con influenze che spaziano dall’hard rock al rock psichedelico, dal punk al rock alternativo, contribuendo a definire un proprio stile.
Nell’arco di circa 2 anni il gruppo ha all’attivo un buon numero di brani e suona dal vivo facendosi notare nel circuito underground del nord Sardegna grazie al suo impatto sonoro ed alla originalità dei brani.
Nell’autunno del 2007 il gruppo produce alcuni brani del proprio repertorio registrati da Gianvito Carbini presso l’Indiano’s Studio (Sassari).
Nel maggio del 2008 il batterista Antonio Piga viene sostituito da Giovanni Cossu.
Luglio 2008: il gruppo si lega per la distribuzione all'Enjoy Record (etichetta indipendente italiana).
Ottobre 2008: il gruppo cerca un nuovo batterista.
14 Novembre 2008: il brano "Magnolia" viene distribuito sulle piattaforme digitali.
Febbario 2009: il gruppo è alla ricerca di una nuova sezione ritmica.
A biography of the band:
Absentia are from Sassari, a barren mediterranean town in the north of Sardinia (Italy). The band formed in spring 2006 when Danilo Fois (vocals and lead guitar), after leaving his former group, decided to start a new musical project. His aim was to make music without any boundaries, writing lyrics filled with sheer poetic hermetism but always putting music first. Antonio Piga (drums), Carlo Chinello (bass) and Alessandro Lindiri (guitar) joined in soon after, and in autumn of the same year the band was complete.
The name of the group is a word derived from Latin, meaning ‘absence’. It mainly shows a mood shared by all the songs.
Absentia’s music can be essentially described as alternative indie rock, because of the many varied styles that comprise the band’s sound – hard rock, psychedelic rock, punk and alternative rock. This wide range of influences contributed to define the band’s own style.
Since 2006 the group has written a great deal of songs. However, it was only playing live that Absentia established their name in the underground music scene of their home town and the north of Sardinia, thanks to the band’s powerful sound and original songs.
In autumn of the same year Absentia produced some of their songs, recorded by Gianvito Carbini at the Indiano’s Studio (Sassari).
In May 2008 Giovanni Cossu replaced Antonio Piga.
In July 2008 the group signed a contract with the indie Italian label ENJOY RECORD, to release some of their songs.
October 2008: the band look for a new drummer.
14 November 2008: first single "Magnolia" out now!

Non potrò mai descrivere a nessuno però lo stato in cui l'ho trovato, perdonami J. ma questo non riesco davvero a farlo. I funerali si sono svolti questo pomeriggio a Milano come lui ha voluto ed il suo corpo cremato. Copierò in un blog il suo ultimo messaggio appena ne avrò la forza. Mi manchi. E.
