Erick Turnbull is an oddity, in a good kind of way. He took first place at the Canadian Fingerstyle Guitar Competition last July in Odessa, after taking third place the year before. While his ability on the instrument is never in question, what is also note worthy of mention is his work as a stand up comedian. His ability to merge the two has been seen all over Kingston in various clubs of late. He was actually fired from a club several years ago for taking the stage nude. While his guitar offered some discretion, the owners were apparently not as 'forward thinking' as Erick had hoped. Erick's humorous anecdotes and impressions connect rather well with the 'under 30' crowd, and though anyone can relate to his cover of 'Roxanne' by The Police, no one's ready when he does it backwards midway through.
