Jaime Hanna's path to a career in music is as natural as the rocky mountains he hails from. His father is a founding member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, so recording studios, dressing rooms and tour buses were instrumental in framing his childhood.
Although Jaime's musicianship began with the drums, Steve Vai's performance in the movie Crossroads led to Jaime's life-long relationship with the guitar. After relocating to Nashville to attend Belmont University, he found himself inspired by Dwight Yoakam's albums - primarily by Pete Anderson's guitar playing and Yoakam's songs.
As his interest in songwriting grew, so did his association with Raul Malo, lead singer of the Mavericks, just as they were breaking through in country music. This led to a publishing contract with EMI as well as the opportunity to tour with the Mavericks, singing harmonies, playing rhythm guitar and percussion.
Jaime's writing style continued to develop, which resulted in his songs being recorded by The Mavericks, Raul Malo, Big Kenny (of the duo Big & Rich), Rick Trevino, and Wanda Jackson.
In 2005, MCA records released Hanna McEuen, a self-titled album recorded with his cousin Jonathan McEuen. The single "Something Like
A Broken Heart", penned by Jaime, was his first visit to Billboard's top
40. Hanna McEuen also appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, A&E's Breakfast with the Arts, and Grand Ole Opry Live.
Jaime's songwriting and performing are well rooted in country tradition,
but continue to push the format to its limits.
He is currently preparing his first solo venture while touring with Gary
Allan.
