In September 1902 at Manly Beach, Australia, William Gocher openly defied the law and entered the water at midday. Despite being arrested, no charges were laid. From then on, the sport of ‘surf bathing’ quickly grew. As the sport became more popular, the dangers of the surf became apparent. It was then that groups of experienced surfers began to establish surf life saving clubs to help protect the less proficient swimmers from the dangers of the ocean.

When a wave reaches the shallow shoreline of an ocean or other large body of water, the upper portion of the wave pitches forward and the wave begins to break—a motion often indicated by crests of foam called whitecaps. The size and forward motion of the wave subsequently diminish. The basic idea behind surfing is to ride the unbroken portion of a wave for as great a distance as possible, using a variety of maneuvers to speed up, slow down, and maneuver around the breaking portion of the wave.

Arches National Park, Utah, preserves over 2,000 natural sandstone arches, like the world-famous Delicate Arch, as well as many other unusual rock formations. In some areas, the forces of nature have exposed millions of years of geologic history.

One of the most important religious and educational centers in ancient Mesoamerica, Cholula, Mexico, which means “place of those who fled,” is the oldest continually inhabited city in the northern hemisphere.

Comic Book Lore

Spider-Man was introduced in Amazing Fantasy #15, 1962. Due to positive sales and fan mail resulting from the issue, the character received his own title, The Amazing Spider-Man, the following year, which became Marvel's best-selling series. The character quickly became a cultural icon; a 1965 Esquire poll of college campuses found that college students ranked Spider-Man and fellow Marvel hero The Hulk alongside Bob Dylan and Che Guevara as their favorite revolutionary icons.

About me:

About myself: Jack Egan

A long running TV show, "about nothing" once had a little skit about the significance of the names parents choose for their children. I think one joke went: "With a name like Jeeves, he isn't going to grow up to be a hit man." Well I was lucky, I only had to cope with Jack, John, John Francis or assorted nicknames. I've never been what you would call svelte, so I remember the occasional pain and humiliation of the term husky. There were lots of Jacks and Johns as I grew up. The shout of "Jack" could originate from the class bully or the prettiest girl in the class. Not knowing which Jack was the subject of the invitation, I experienced a few moments of panic, mumbling the silent prayer: "Please not me...please let it be me...please not me!" We're born confused, and we rarely recover.

I majored in Literature in college. My earliest career tracks were the construction industry (working in a factory which made roofing shingles) and as a substitute teacher in middle school. I was a mathematics teacher, naturally, as my degree was in Literature. The students, aged thirteen, knew more than me about Life and possibly more about mathematics. The principal explained that my primary responsibility was to protect the equipment.

I joined the Peace Corps and spent three years as a teacher in Africa. An early indication of my future destiny as a photographer was that I didn't bring a camera, and never took a picture while in Africa. Before leaving for the Continent, I had read an article which mentioned that many people believed that a camera would steal their soul. I made some friends during my stay, and came to realize that the article was not far from the truth.

I actually studied photography and darkroom techniques when I first returned from Peace Corps. However various circumstances took me through numerous careers and courses of study: payroll clerk for 2,000 nurses, public accounting, health care consulting and Controller for a start-up company working in a 200 year old barn with poor electricity and extremely large flies in the spring. I had studied accounting and finance when I realized I did not want to be a starving photographer! I eventually received an MBA, and pursued advanced studies in Plant Science (I was going to discover a new strain of corn and feed the world) and data management (I came to the realization that most computer programmers had large derrieres and were addicted to computer games).

Fortune has allowed me to come full circle and return to my earlier interest in photography. I am at that age were some weight loss would be beneficial. I certainly don't believe all photographers need to starve, but my initial goals are realistic if not humble. The industry has changed tremendously, but the possibilities are unlimited. I am grateful that my parents' gave me a generic name. It's allowed me to explore numerous paths unhindered.

The process I employ in the computer darkroom does not involve heavy plates, long exposure times, nor toxic chemicals. However, as with the early pioneers, the final image is a function of light, tone and composition. Relieved of the dangers associated with the original process, I can only hope to some day master a technique that "mirrors the truth".

Time-Less-Image Time-Less-Image is proud to offer items from our collection of comic books, graphic novels and original comic art. Both my brother Tom and I have been lifelong readers, collectors and fans of comics since early childhood. I actually remember paying $ 0.05 for my new issue comics! Classic Illustrated books introduced me to some of the American and European classics. Tom owned "Comics, Legends & Lore" a comic book store in Lynn, Massachussetts during the 80's. He was active at all the trade shows and conventions. Together we hope to bring our knowledge and enthusiasm to the virtual comic world on Ebay.

Our objective at Time-Less-Image is to offer the public unique, affordable, original fine art note cards & prints. Additionally, we will be offering original comic book art, comic books and graphic novels from our collection.
