My Primary influences in music have been, Bela Fleck, J.D. Crowe, Tony Rice, David Grisman, and Mark OConner within the bluegrass/swing venue. In Irish music , Seamus Egan, John Doyle, and Cathal Hayden. In person my influences are my wife Roisin, her brother Eamonn, and a friend from way back guitarist and singer Nick Anistasio.

This is me in 1991 playing banjo with a local bluegrass band called Southern Expressions. We got the chance to perform on four bluegrass cruises and at a place called "Silver Dollar City" in Branson, Missouri opposite a then very young family band by the name of "Nickel Creek"
This next video is a year or two earlier..
This Video is on my space because I believe strongly in it's message, and I love the Blue Man Group anyway :D

Although originally from Collingswood, New Jersey John's family moved to Hollywood, Florida When he was 7 years old. His love of music was always strong, even though he had yet to be introduced to an instrument. While in 2nd grade he would perform Elvis Presley's "Hound Dog" for the class show and tell. (air guitar and all). A few years later John's parents purchased a Piano with lessons and his musical career shot off with a BANG... OK, more like a slight pop.. It wasn't until just before his 17th birthday that John took an interest in the 5 string banjo, and then,, well? BANG...
Over the next three years his addiction to Bluegrass music lead him to several other stringed instruments including: Mandolin, Guitar, Bass, and Fiddle. He traveled up and down the state of Florida in search of every Bluegrass festival and Jam session he could find.
At age 20 (After careful consideration and a tactful comment or two from dad), John decided to spend some time in the "real world" and get a job,, in the field of music of course.
After a couple of years playing any job (while searching for a banjo oriented gig), John was hired to play at an Irish pub called "Maguires Hill 16" in Fort Lauderdale. It was there that he met Roisin, his lovely wife, and fellow musician. Together with her brother Eamonn (uileann piper and whistle player), Roisin sparked in John a new interest in the form of Celtic Music.
Over the next 15 years he continued to grow and adapt , adding Bouzouki, Tenor Banjo, and DADGAD tuned Guitar to his list of instruments. He has had the privilege of working and jamming with many great musicians and artists including, Canadian singer John Macdermott, Irish fiddler James Kelly, Canadian born multi-instrumentalist Ray Legere, and most recently with the lovely and talented members of the Traditional Irish band, Cherish The Ladies.
John continues to play, learn, teach, and create music.
It is of good ale to you I'll sing And to good ale I'll always cling I like my mug filled to the brim And I'll drink all you'd like to bring
Oh good ale, thou art my darling Thou art my joy both night and morning
It is you that helps me with my work And from a task I'll never shirk While I can get a good home brew And better than one pint, I like two
It is you that makes my friends my foes It is you that makes me wear old clothes But since you come so near my nose It's up you comes and down you goes
You have caused me debts that I've often swore I never would drink strong ale no more But you, for all that, I'll forgive And I'll drink strong ale as long as I live @drink from the Copper Family filename[ GOODALE
