b. New York, USA.
A Magna Cum Laude graduate of Ithaca College, in 1987 Nazarian became a founding member of New York Voices with Darmon Meader, Peter Eldridge, Caprice Fox (all Ithaca alumni), and Sara Krieger. Among artists with whom New York Voices appeared are Ray Brown, Joshua Redman, the Count Basie Orchestra, Jim Hall, George Benson and Paquito D’Rivera, while as a featured soloist, Nazarian worked with Brown and Stanley Turrentine on a Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre production, Indigo In Motion. Nazarian has also performed and sometimes recorded with guitarist Joe Negri (Afternoon In Rio), the 21st Century Swing Band, and El Eco, a Latin band in Boston, Massachusetts. She has also been active performing radio and television jingles. Interested and active in musical education, Nazarian conceived and performed Long Ago And Far Away, an interactive concert for children. Another educational project on which Nazarian appeared is Red Dragonfly In New York; this JVC Records CD, released only in Japan, comprised Japanese folk songs that have been adapted to western musical form and are sung in English language translations. Continuing her educational work, Nazarian has been involved in a children’s radio programme, also entitled Long Ago And Far Away, a multi-media CD-Rom, and a book and video/DVD dealing with vocal technique. Nazarian also teaches voice privately and through clinics, workshops, and master classes.
