I went to school for publishing, but grew tired of the industry pretty quickly. Still, I love to read and always have a small stack of interesting books in line to be read. I enjoy dialogue exchange more so then overly descript writing, which tends to bore me.
Heroes
Though I've saved many desperate animals, they have saved me far more. They are my heroes. Their willingness to overcome even the most terrifying of situations and learn to trust again is an inspiration that you have to experience for yourself in order to believe.
About me: Do you know me? I'm the duck whisperer. The keeper of gaggle secrets. I am the one who gathers up rescue gear and goes out onto freezing cold ponds in single digit temps to try to coax terrified animals to come into my arms. I work to convince them that even though the last humans they knew abandoned them without regard, that I will love them endlessly and care for them with all my heart. I provide them with the best vet care available. I fill their bellies with good food and their buckets with clean water. I give them fresh ponds and streams to swim on, cozy shelters with fresh hay to lay in and a safe haven to relax in. But most of all, I give them the promise of a new and loving family. That's who I am.
I'm also a mother, a wife, a credit manager/collection agent (YIKES!), a story-teller, sci-fi writer and a thrill-seeker who loves a good adventure.
Who I'd like to meet: I like self-respecting and strong-spirited people who do what they say they are going to do and who have a sense of personal honor. I admire anyone who selflessly reaches out and helps those less fortunate than themselves, especially children and animals. I like people who aren't afraid to work hard or play hard. I LOVE to laugh and love people who make me laugh so hard I cry. And, of course, if you love ducks--all the better!
Hope you all are staying as warm as is possible. It's so cold here and it's going to get worse. We are preparing for the worst cold this year, though we have been through worse! Trying to keep the chickens, ducks and geese comfortable enough. We have been feeding wild turkeys every year, and there really is not much else for them to eat right now.
There might be other alpha drakes at the pond, but we all have to get along - except during spring mating, of course! Then, it's every duck for himself!
Thank you for your nice compliment! I actually have a pond-full of avian friends, and none of them have their own myspace page. The only reason I got one is because I'm the alpha duck. That, and I'm also the best looking duck on the whole pond.
