The mexican born pianist, composer and producer has been a multi-stylist musician for over ten years.
A leading pianist who´s music goes into different directions into experimental music from Avant-garde and Contemporary Jazz to Progresive Rock and classical composition. He has spent the last years living in between New York, Prague and Mexico City to finally establish in Barcelona. He has played and recorded with some of the greatest musicians of the time like The Mars Volta, David Gilmore, Tim Berne, Billy Martin (Medeski, Martin, Wood), Cyro Baptista, Omar Rodriguez Lopez, Eric Reeves, Stomu Takeishi, Natalia Lafourcade, Wolfgang Hafner, Todd Clouser´s A Love Electric, Magos Herrera, Mike Moreno, Steven Bernstein (Sex Mob), Bill McHenry, Jonathan Kreizberg, Eli Degibri, Ximena Sariñana, Ely Guerra, Hernan Hecht, Raynal Colom, Armand Sabal-lecco, Alex Kautz and many others. He has played in many countries like in Japan, US, Turkey, South America, most of Europe, London Mexico. Has been part of more than 30 recording more than 10 of his own. He has made TV recordings for the BBC, Cesky Roshlas, Radio France, Canal 11, Canal 22, etc., and won the Best CD of the year 2002 and Best artist of 2001 by the Czech Music Awards. Mark also teaches extensively in Colombia, USA, France, Spain, Czech Rep., Mexico, etc.Some of the projects he actually works with are MOLE (Aanderud/Hecht), Mark Aanderud Trío, MASEnsemble, Mark Aanderud Latin Quartet as well as many sideman projects. Mark studied classical piano at the ESM in Mexico, Jazz at the SIM in New York and took private lessons with greats as Uri Caine, Jason Moran, Vijay Iyer, Bill Carrothers and composition with Arturo Marquez concluding his composition studies with Hanus Bartoñ at the Prague Academy of Music.
