MATTHEW JURE - vocals, acoustic guitar, archaeology MATT HERON - electric guitar, ornithology SIMON WARDE - bass guitar, ideology STEVE DAWSON - drums, olfactology.
Matthew's singing has been compared to the vocal styles of Neil Finn, Nick Drake and The Levellers' Mark Chadwick. While music by the likes of Damon Albarn, Ray LaMontagne and Julian Cope have all been instrumental in shaping Matthew's songwriting, he aims to communicate rather than imitate.
Bassist Simon Warde brings something of Grand Drive, The Rockingbirds and The Broken Family Band. On electric guitar, Matt Heron draws inspiration from (among others) George Harrison, Johnny Marr and Graham Coxon.
Steve Dawson is an accomplished drummer who plays rock grooves with subtlety and restraint. The most immediately apparent influences on his style are Peter Salisbury of The Verve, Reni and Mike Joyce. (In general, though, Steve agrees with Oscar Wilde that "Comparisons are odorous [sic]".)
We won't be playing the 16th. Anthony's on holiday for a few weeks so we are having an enforced break from gigging for a while. We've organised a few dates in the summer though, through semiconductor. I'll find out the dates and let you know.
