In Gustavsbergs Harbour, where the city meets the archipelago, the
production of industrial acid still coexists with working artisans, musicians and
designers of art, ceramics and porcelain.
In the beautiful natural setting of the harbour, a centre for art and design is
forming to create a national and international venue for all types of
gatherings: music events, exhibitions, conferences and fairs.
Gustavsbergs Harbour, with its background and history, provides a sanctuary
for people, culture and nature that is often lacking in our modern
technological society.
Only 17 mins from Stockholm City by bus, or about an hours boat trip from
the quays of Stockholm, you can visit the Membrane Castle, Gula
Byggningen (The Yellow Building) with its gallery and art crafts shop,
factory outlets like Gustavsbergs fabriksbutik, Villeroy & Boch,
Orrefors/Kosta Boda and HFP in Gustavsberg, Antikhuset (The House of
Antiques), restaurants and cafés, the tourist information, the guest
harbour, rent a bicycle and much more.
In summer the harbour turns into a lively meeting-place for people and
culture, with exhibitions, conferences, events and other activities.
The rhythmic culture is represented by the artists of Membrane Recordings,
Headquarter is located in the middle of the harbour. Early in the morning you
could hear the sounds of seagulls mixed with the distinct sound of an
808 drum machine over the open sea.
