Gerry
Music for me is a form of storytelling and communicating. I tend to write about things that happen to me or the people close to me. I find I must truly be able to connect and put my heart and soul into performing it - otherwise the song is'nt "mine". Music is an emotion - and without it in a song serves no purpose. One of the biggest influencial bands would be The Blue Nile -their album "Hats" and "Peace at Last" are complete masterpieces - Paul Buchanan of the The Blue Nile would be one of my heroes, along with Joni Mitchell, U2, Springsteen, Wilco, John Mayer, Ryan Adams, aswell as other artists like Emmylou, Daniel Lanois etc. All these artists inspire me time and time again. I listen to alot of American artists.....but at the same time, i'll always consider my roots to be in irish music.

A wordsmith in love with the guitar, Gerry’s music is a testament to Ireland’s rich folk tradition. Match this with a love of the
greatest US artists from R.E.M to Sinatra and an EP, ‘Hide & Seek' recorded in LA with two highly acclaimed producers -
10-time Grammy winner Rafa Sardina (Alejandro Sanz, Stevie Wonder, Luis Miguel, Macy Gray) and Cheche Alara (Christina Aguilera, Alejandro Sanz, Pink) – and you’ll see why Gerry is one of Ireland’s hottest musical properties.
So what is an Irish devil and his guitar doing in the City of Angels in 2007? Let’s go back to the start. Jaded with the
‘one man and his guitar’ sound dominating the Irish music scene at the time, Gerry began a new musical journey in the
summer of 2005 with the creation of critically acclaimed Minus Circus. Refusing to fall under the tag of the stereotypical
Irish singer-songwriter, Gerry drew inspiration from UK artist Badly Drawn Boy and Aqualung and created a fuller band
sound, whilst maintaining the acoustic core that is evident in alot of his music. Minus Circus is not a band, it is the
name of the type of music Gerry has been making since its inception.
Producing a marriage of slick sounds and wise words, Minus Circus has emulated influences such as U2, Wilco,
R.E.M and The Blue Nile. A sound part acoustic, part electric, Minus Circus is entirely captivating.
Gerry was asked to make a wish-list for his band to record with in Los Angeles. He choose Peter Thorn (Chris Cornell, Linda Perry, Courtney Love, Jewel), Sean Hurley (Vertical Horizon, Alicia Keys, John Mayer) and Toss Panos (Andy Summers, Steve Vai) – he got all three.
The last part in the puzzle has been completed with mastering by Joe Gastwirt (Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Fleetwood Mac, Emmylou Harris, Carly Simon, Michael Jackson) in late 2007.
Focusing on universal themes of love, loss and childhood, ‘Hide & Seek' allows Gerry’s powerful voice take the lead role and provide the listener with plenty of magic moments. Check back EARLY 2008***DATE TBC***

Press Quotes
"...Minus Circus whose sound has an acoustic core amidst the electrics, with delicious guitars truly sparkling. The opening track, the mid-tempo "Take it All", has touches of early REM and Wilco..."The Gem" is slower and moodier with more of that terrific guitar..with passionate vocals by Gerry Scullion. The lighters-aloft brigade might love it."Good Soul/Bad Soul" is a heavier track with a ponderous, nagging rhythm that could reactivate the most lethargic toes. Solid Stuff..." HOT PRESS - MAY 2006
This is the eponymous debut EP from lively Dublin quartet Minus Circus.
Lead track "Take It All" is a near perfect indie/pop moment that boasts a
charming guitar riff which would sit comfortably on The Stone Roses' first
record (you know the one, the best album in the world ever, better than OK
Computer multiplied by Revolver). Next up is "The Gem", a gorgeous
wistful ballad that flows effortlessly into the acerbic finale, "Good Soul
/ Bad Soul".
Impressive stuff.
