Danish producer and singer Emil Wilk began performing his bright rhythmic dance-pop under the moniker M.I.L.K. From the island of Bornholm in Denmark, Wilk combined electronic melodies with live instrumentation, crafting a nostalgic throwback sound similar to Jungle, Leisure, and Empire of the Sun.
Wilk entered the music world on a whim, experimenting for fun at the behest of his friends. However, when he found himself in a studio for the first time, he fell in love. Growing up with an R&B- and soul-influenced musical diet -- his favorites include Curtis Mayfield and Prince -- he chose to focus on those energies for his debut effort, "If We Want To," a laid-back jam with a tropical flourish. He followed with the Motown-funky "Everything You Know" before issuing his first official single, "Following the Sun." The Following in the Sun remix EP followed soon after. In late 2016, he released the infectious single "U and Me," his attempt at merging the spirits of the Gap Band and Off the Wall-era Michael Jackson. ~ Neil Z. Yeung
