Norton Money are a London-based country/alt.bluegrass band that play barn-yard hoedown music in a Gram Parsons-Ryan Adams-Neil Young kinda way. Driven by the guitars and warm harmonies of San Francisco ex-pats Dan and Jeremy, the sound is completed by Swedish bassist and banjo player Oscar and London born-and-bred drummer Tim.
The bands' energy, pounding two-step beats and catchy melodies give the crowd a sense of being down at the rodeo. In addition, heart-felt ballads about love and the ocean make for great variety and a welcome breather between the more full-steam-ahead numbers.
Norton Money have recently played at The Luminaire (supporting Chris Smither), The Union Chapel (supporting The Blockheads), The Troubadour, What’s Cookin’ @ The Sheepwalk and Ex-Servicemen’s Club (supporting Holly Golightly), The Boogaloo (monthly residency), 100 Club, and Edinburgh Fringe Festival to name a few. During the summer of 2008 the band went on a month-long sun-soaked tour of California.
The bands’ self-titled debut was released in March 2007 and the follow-up, recorded at the Union Chapel, is to be released in summer 2009.
"These San Franciscan, Bay-Area cats juxtapose gorgeous tripped-out, West-Coast harmonies with bitter-sweet Post-Country lyrics.Their debut album is a work of genius and is truly sublime. Expect a heart-lifting, Cosmic-barnstorming live performance that will have you floating on a cloud and chomping at the bit to dance all night long."
MARTYN, BONANZA
“A barn-stormin’ US/UK 4-piece who play foot-stompin’ western-ish nu-bluegrass with west-coast harmonies and Clarence White geetar licks”
STEVIE, WHAT’S COOKIN’
“These boys will have you dancing on the tables all night long!”
