Pearl Harbor and the Explosions reunite for one show on June 7th 2007
to pay tribute to the maven of the Mab, Dirk Dirksen at Dirk Fest being held at Slim's in S.F.
PHATE had a meteoric 18 month career during which they became the most popular club band in the Bay Area. Winners of the 1979 Bammies for Best Independent Single ("Drivin'" on 415 records) and Best Club Band (the only write in category!), the band recorded an album for Warner Bros. and toured the nation. Since their breakup in 1981, they've only performed together once before - don't miss this "historic" event! (this bio will be embellished as time permits...)

What an influence this band was on me! Just droppin' by to say it's great to hear these songs again! I played the Dirk tribute night too with WTD but it was a differant night than the night PHATE did. Cheers gang!

From one (ex)plosion on a different continent, to the originals... Ultra Cool! it's good to see this page up here! I remember hearing "Drivin' " on BBC2's 'Old Grey Whistle Test'.... a few months later I was on stage with Pearl, rocking up Europe!
