Out of the Norwegian Woods comes RANHEIM. A 3-piece consisting of Admiral von Ranheim, Don Ranheim and Kaptein Ranheim, all born and bred at Ranheim, a community on the eastern part of Trondheim, Norway.
Beeing fed hard rock for breakfast, hardcore for lunch and a slightly more experimental postpunk soup for dinner, Ranheim soon developed their own menu consisting of these ingredients mixed with some hot, alternative and unpredictable spices.
Their first EP 'Kraft', recorded in a Garage at Ranheim and later to be released on Evil Music Int., showed that they eaten and digested their food well and now had enough energy to power a large city.
The 7" EP was also a tribute to Ranheim's cornerstone factory, a papermill named Ranheim Papirfabrikk. The factory (commonly known as Ranheim Kraft) was build in 1884 and built and shaped the society of Ranheim for the next century. Both Don and the Admiral worked here in the late 80's and early 90's.
In October 2005 the band recorded a number of songs in Caliban Studio, Oslo. The songs were later mixed by John Fryer in London and ended up as the album, 'ROCK & SCIENCE', to be released in May 2006 (in Norway).
So far in 2008 Ranheim have toured Switzerland, the UK and ended up in the US where they in April recorded an album and an EP with Steve Albini at his studio Electrical Audio in Chicago. The 7" EP entitled 'I Don't Like The Smiths' was released in June and brought some tension between Ranheim and fans of the jolly Mancuians.
But regardless of Morrissey's liking or not Ranheim's new album Norwegian Wood will be released in Norway mid September and comes with a heavy recycled cardboard packaging.

Yes, I managed to miss the release of the first PoP single since I joined the band (and my first single release ever!), but that's what happens when you're in the middle of the north Atlantic, running around in viking clothes. The Kaptein has finished his sailings on the sea and has posted his sealegs on a nearby shore. He is now ready to record a new album. Hopefully the Don and the Admiral will participate in this.
