Red Heart the Ticker is the musical collaboration of Robin MacArthur and Tyler Gibbons, a husband and wife duo from Marlboro, Vermont. Their music, often compared to Will Oldham, Gillian Welch, and Iron and Wine, is, in many ways, a reconciliation between their verging musical tastes: Robin’s penchant for tradition influenced sixties folk and twangy, old-fashioned country music, and Tyler’s love of jazz fusion and esoteric sixties rock. A couple long before they began playing music together, RHTT was born when, in 2005, they built themselves a cabin in the woods of Vermont and lived there without running water. As the long cold months of winter drew on they decided they would have to start playing music together to keep themselves from going batty with cabin fever. Red Heart the Ticker (red heart for warmth, ticker for rhythm,) is what was born.

Reviews of Oh My! Mountains Below
The New York Times: Impressive . . . PopMatters: Stunning . . . natural, graceful, reflective, hopeful, honest, sure to be some of the best music of the year. BabySue/LMNOP: Lovely . . magical and slightly peculiar. The City Paper (Philadelphia): magestic highway serenades mix with surreal lullabies.
Reviews of For the Wicked Paste Magazine:****star album review in March issue "The pair's songs (reminiscent of both Gillian Welch and Will Oldham) are dim and haunting, full of winter melancholy, wispy melodies and plans for escape." Pitchforkmedia.com: ***1/2 star track review for “Leather Boots” KinkyOrigami.com: “It seems like each time I listen to “Go-Cart Thrills” something new stands out that I didn’t notice before. The instrumentation is very lush, and its depth really grows on you with each listen.” The Riverfront Times: “The band's sole album, 2005's For the Wicked, starts with sturdy, country-folk foundations and ends in Lanois-esque soul-scapes. In between, the duo reverses some tape loops, drops some disco-drum hooks, sharpens some knifing guitars and leaves lots of space for MacArthur's dryly sexy voice to draw you into an imperfectly daydreamy utopia.” The Brattleboro Reformer: "In the hands of The Ticker, most of the songs on For the Wicked take on a hue of masterpiece.”
