No recuerdo si primero empecé a hablar o a dibujar?,
La verdad no lo recuerdo. Si me esfuerzo un poco me
acuerdo de todo tipo de papeles que caían en mi mano,
el papel que envolvía las facturas que venían de la
panadería, dorsos de boletas del laburo de mi viejo y
hasta juro que me las ingenié una vez para llevar una
lápiz al baño y dibujar sobre el papel higiénico. Para
mí todo papel era materia prima.
Habían dos cosas que me alimentaban y fueron mi mayor
inspiración, una las viejas historietas mejicanas de
Editorial Novaro y otra fue la televisión. Las series
japonesas de ciencia ficción me podían más que nada en
el mundo. De chico a mi me decían" Tío Martin", por el
clásico extraterrestre de la serie mi marciano
favorito, asi me pasaba en mi galaxia privada en
compañía de todos mis marcianos, esperando siempre que
en algún momento y por casualidad volvieran a la TV
"Ultraman" de la misma manera que todo creyente espera
la llegada del Mesías.
Cada vez tenía más necesidad de desahogarme con el
papel y dibujar así mis propios personajes, de contar
mis propias historias y hacer mis propias historietas.
Leyendo historietas conocí a Jack Kirby, mi mano no
volvería a ser la misma, me mimetisaría con su traso,
hasta convertirse en mi mayor influencia gráfica.
Faltaba el último ingrediente para completar este
salvaje cóctel de influencias: El Rock'n'Roll
Ya de muy temprana edad tenía esa extraña sensación
del mundo de rock'n'roll.
Esos sonidos primitivos que alimentaban mi
vida...desde las primeras bandas punk's de garage
hasta las cavernosas y oscuras bandas rockabillys.
Esas bandas de fuerte sonido 50's me arrastrarían con
fuerza hasta su lado más oscuro. Me había vuelto
Rockabilly.
Ahora soy un dibujante Rockabilly!, que busca siempre
el pretexto de dibujar lo que le gusta, sean chicas
rudas o luchadores enmascarados, Hot Rods o monstruos
custumizados, diablos flamijeros, o cualquier zombie
radiactivo. Así sea en formato de historieta,
ilustración, flyer para bandas, remera o cualquier
recurso gráfico, a mí me encanta, porque sé que sirve
para disparar, en cierta manera mi arte y que la
ocurrencia en la creación de cada dibujo es solamente
particular, única y distinta en cada unos de ellos, y
eso me divierte, por que veo que le llega a cada
persona en particular, todos les buscan significados
distintos, y eso es único.
Pasó el tiempo y acá estoy con el orgullo de ser todo
un Sr.Alíen!
